After reading a few forum posts it all started to sound far too complicated. Cut this bend that, but really it is much easier than you think.
No cutting (well there is if you want to use a cable tie) and no bending :-)
Things you will need....
1 x Cable tie
10 x Strip Tin PCB Panel Female IC Breakable (I bought that many just in case I broke one)
Right on the FastATA, front row of pins put nothing. The two middle rows put one strip per row.
The last row put two strips, you'll need to put the strips on the FastATA not into the rom sockets.
The strips snap easily off at the right length too so no cutting needed here :-)
Then plug the FastATA in, give a firm push. Test buy powering on.
I Also put through a cable tie just to make sure, but really isn't needed.
My instructions are not the best but I've uploaded some photos in the gallery.

Thanks Mfilos, means a lot coming from you :-)
The 29F800+DIL adapter doesnt quite sit right on the sockets and is a little higher than a standard ROM but it fits under the keyboard, just.
I've also put some insulation tape on the back of the keyboard just in case :-)
