A few days ago I noticed that with my OS3.9 Amiga installation, every time I try to start a SHELL or CLI I get the message requester:
PLEASE INSTALL VOLUME "IMIMIM"
That pops up on the screen.
I cannot understand why this is happening? Even if I try to type NEWCLI from the command line I get this.
I've only found one other use on the whole of the internet who has experienced this:

But there was no solution for it.
Can anyone even guess why this might be happening and how I can fix it?
The only thing that I can think of is that I did run a virus checker about two days ago - it found some instances of the ebola virus, but that was on my applications partition, NOT on my workbench partition.

check (and delete) this line in your User startup
Assign IMIMIM: "Grafica:Imagemaster"
-
Check S:Shell-Startup.

This is weird.
I used a backup disc from November and replaced the SHELL and SHELL_VNC on my hard drive with the backed up versions from two months ago and it seemed to have fixed things.
VERY WEIRD. I'd still like to understand what happened!
EDIT: NOPE, I thought i had fixed it, but this didn't. Ignore this message.

AH! That's right! I did try and check out the application IMAGEMASTER! I deleted it from my hard drive, but I guess that's continuing to screw it up.

The Shell#? files in SYS:System? I think those are just .info files - maybe a badly-written install program messed with some tooltypes.

I just checked my startup sequence and user-startup.
There's no reference to ImageMaster or IMIMIM there.
BUT - Yesterday I DID try and install Imagemaster, didn't like it and removed it (by deleting the hard drive directory for the program and altering the USER-STARTUP to remove all ASSIGNS for this program).
So what is still lingering from this DAMN program, then?

Something in Env: ?

I replaced the entire contents of my S: directory with ones from a backup done a day before I installed ImageMaster.
This cured the problem.
I'm not sure why it was occuring. Although there was no reference to ImageMaster or IMIMIM left in my Startup Sequence, ImageMaster had installed several Arexx files and default settings files to my S: directory. It seems once those were gone, the IMIMIM volume call was cured.
Any idea how Arexx could have played into this problem (just for future reference to avoid this)? I still don't know why this would have manifested itself in a Command Line initiation.
