The Big Book of Amiga Hardware (BBoAH) is back online again on a new domain:
www.bigbookofamigahardware.com (http://www.bigbookofamigahardware.com)
The original site www.amiga-hardware.com (http://www.amiga-hardware.com), created and maintained by Ian Chapman is still online, but has not been updated since 2006 and will only continue to exist as long as Ian wants - but it will NOT be updated anymore. A link to the new BBoAH will be placed at the old site very soon.
All data and pictures has been exported to the new home of BBoAH and the site has been reprogrammed from scratch. A few new features is planned and the layout will also be updated soon (any CSS ninjas who volunteers?).
All emails with updates to BBoAH sendt to Ian from contributors from all over the world, has been forwarded to me and will be added to the database in the near future - a few items has already been
added/updated. If you have an item that should be added, please contact me.
Hopefully the community will support the new BBoAH, so we can make the database even more complete. Thanks to Ian for his willingness to pass on he's work and great effort in creating the original BBoAH.
regards, bitman

Probably the largest Amiga hardware reference on the net, with more than 1800 items listed.

I'm in the process of updating the content, and adding hardware - so if you have anything not listed yet, please send a description together with pictures to the email-address mentioned on the site.

Just wish I had better pics :(

Great. Bad pics is better than no pics.

It's til there, but last updated 3 years ago...

I sent some stuff to one of them a few years ago but got no reply.
I'm just glad there's an active mirror again.
It's a great resource, especially with updates and changes to make it more accurate.

Is the A600 Power PC board just the A500 version with a convertor and a box?

I see, I shall update my bookmark to your site then.
Thanks! :)

You have been told (http://amigaworld.net/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=37327&forum=16) two days ago that the German version of their site (bboah.de) is still actively supported and has seen tons of updates in the last 6 years.
I get it - running the show is a lot nicer than having to cooperate with someone. But pretending you didn't know about their efforts (like you did in that AW thread) or continuing to pretend that their effort is dead? That's just strange.
You're ignoring six years of DB updates (which are released under a CC license...) just to stay in control? That's the spirit!
-
We are talking about bboah.com, which is in english - I don't read german and to my knowledge bboah.de is in german (but it is updated).
I've tried to get in contact with the other mirror - no luck yet. Who said the 6 years of work is beeing ignored?

Read carefully before shooting at people. The news item here at A.rog was posted: 02-25-2013, 04:09 PM
You noticed me at aw.net that the german version still was active, at: 26-Feb-2013 13:39:14 (http://amigaworld.net/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=37327&forum=16#698998)
(http://amigaworld.net/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=37327&forum=16#698998)A.org has just be slow at approving my news item.

bitman has a point though I'm afraid. http://bboah.de shows all menus and default texts in german. Granted there is a dropdown to switch individual pages to english, but it assumes you know.
Personally, I dont care - read either - but I agree for english only people the german site is not really user-friendly/inviting :/
On the other hand... so sad to see:
- Ian holding on to the original domain without updates
- German site not having a better way of allowing english updates
- bitman opening another site
- http://amiga.resource.cx/ also being around
talk about duplicating effort ... guys (gals?) .. WORK TOGETHER !

I can try to help with that, if you don't get an answer.

I was referring to post #8 in this thread, which you posted today. "last updated 3 years ago..." sounds a lot different to "I know they're still actively updating, if only the German mirror. I'm trying to contact them".
-
Yes, English section of bboah.de is from 2010. bboah.com is from 2010.
German version is up2date, which is nice. All data that I collect are free for the germans to use. And I hope to get permission to incoorporate the german updates in the new english version aswell.
Again, Ian thougth that the english version was dead, and let me make a mirror (me not being aware of the german version when i contacted Ian, and I wasn't told it by Ian that it existed)

"I know they're still actively updating, if only the German mirror. I'm trying to contact them".
You're right about that. Some answers tend to be too short .
Regarding contact with the guys at bboah.de would be nice. They have some data I'm missing, and I'm digging up a lot of great items atm.
All in all, it would have been nice to know that an active mirror existed - but since Ian didn't link to it, knowbody had a chance to know - I didn't know about it's existence until a few days ago (monday or so).
-
I knew it existed but since I don't read German I just assumed it was as dead as the others.
It sounds like an honest mistake that nobody actually involved has a problem with yet.
Let's just be happy that we'll have an English mirror and let the two sites work it out between themselves.
-
I was also unaware that bboah.de was still being maintained - I thought it was just as dormant as bboah.com. But the new site is forked from amiga-hardware.com which is much older.
I suggest working with the bboah.de guys to merge the content of the 2 sites so that we have active English and German mirrors.
-
I've tried to get in contact with BBOAH.de guys for the last week. To me it looks like bboah.com only had minor updates since setup (from what I can see, but I have not been through alle their content).
All content submitted to Ian to date, has been forwarded to me and is beeing added. I still hope to get in contact with bboah.com.
But it would ne great to have the updates from the german version incorporated in the english - unfortunately my german s****.
Since I setup the new english mirror, I have been contacted from a lot of users, who has some interesting content.
I suggest working with the bboah.de guys to merge the content of the 2 sites so that we have active English and German mirrors.

A small forum has now been added to the site - hopefully that makes it easier to correct/ enhance the articles in the database.
