Title: Mint a1200 for sale
Post by: Bicpug on February 19, 2013, 11:47:11 PM
Hello,

I'm selling a petro NOS 1200.
£150+postage.

Edit* Please note that this is a later petro1200 and therefore is hardware + wb3.1 only; the packs didn't include the magic pack software or manuals.
The actual hardware IS pristine with no marking or yellowing*

The cheapest postage I've managed to find for this parcel is £85 to USA (£105 with tracking) and £25 to UK, which pretty much makes this a UK only sale.
I didn't realise postage costs had gotten so ridiculous.

Thanks

http://amigakit.leamancomputing.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=913

And I think this is the typhoon

http://www.amiga-hardware.com/showhardware.cgi?HARDID=118

Both work well in my timing-fixed 1D4, but I cant say which is superior.

Both are 40mhz/40mhz. Both support pcmcia...

I think its a fair deal for both of us as long as shipping to\from to miami fl is not too much.

actually, the e-matrix is prolly a little better. its from Amigakit. It has socked chips and they are rated at 40mhz. It could probably safely go 50mhz.

The typhoon is built with surplus parts(by GVP for some strange reason) and the surface mount CPU is already overclocked as I recall.

I think the ram is a 32mb but i'll have to boot it up to find out, which I would obviously do prior to shipping.

Thanks :-)

Also, this A1200 tested & works? what is the reason for not wanting it?

Do you know the MB revision and if it has the clockport soldered correctly?

I booted it and tested a WB disk to make sure it worked, ive no idea what the internals are. I was going to keep it as a collectors item but ive decided to actually get back into using an Amiga and i've no desire to use a mint amiga thats worth a lot when i have a crappy one i can get working with a few additions.

Thanx a lot :)
Maybe it would be more convenient for you to send inside the EU ? So ask for Budapest, Hungaria also. Anyway, you'll get the money up front, so no problem for you :)

Cheers !

Hello,

Best quotes i've found so far are:

UK to Serbia is £65.11 with £150 value cover
UK to Hungary is £32.39 with £150 value cover

That's for estimated 2-4 day delivery.

All right, that's quite decent for Hungary :)
What's value cover, though ?

In theory value cover means if it gets lost or smashed they pay £150; they would probably try to weasel out of it like all insurance.

I've gotten hold of a set of original OS 3.0 disks, a set of Bonus disks, and a used manual so count me back in as interested although a new looking manual would be nice. You had posted that it had 3.1 disks, I thought it came with 3.0 KS & OS (?),

It comes with wb3.1 and i assume the ks roms are also 3.1 since its a late amiga technoligies magic pack a1200.

After all my postage checking the usa postage is down to £64, which still seems pretty steep to me but others say that's not so bad for UK to USA.

Hi everyone. I pooped things up big time. Have declared interest, and made Bicpug check for postage and prepare everything, and then it turned out I don't have enough money.
He's been a really great guy through all this and I failed him. My most sincere apologies to Bicpug and everyone else who might have waited for this.

I hope someone will quickly seize this opportunity and grab this great deal while it's still on.

Hi,

Did UPS really leave it on your doorstep like the tracking info says? It would be gone in 10mins if they did that here.

I live in a gated subdivision out in the country 3 miles from town on 1.3 acres where my nearest neighbor is 200 yards away. The "door step" is an alcove.  Theft is extremely unlikely.

Update:  I've reinforced/repaired the box (mold and dirt removed), filled it out with an original set of the Magic Pack disks and manuals, and tested it out with a "Step Up/Down" converter -- works great.

Nice,
The hardware itself was in great condition...shame about the box etc.
Did you remove the autograph on the box cleaning it? and did the caps need work or were they all fine?
Title: Re: Mint a1200 for sale
Post by: danbeaver on March 22, 2013, 06:55:46 PM
Yes, his autograph came off with the mold, but I didn't want it for that anyway.  The box no longer looks crushed and the protective inserts have been re-built.

I haven't opened the case, so I don't know about the caps, but I may put a HDD into her and will check.

I think I will built a switchable (110/220V) Micro-Flex PSU [nice 250W one for $32 available from the net] for her -- the power converter weighs 13 pounds, great for running a vacuum cleaner but a wee bit heavy for an A1200.
