Hi, I'm installing DPaint IV (5) on a pretty much plain vanilla A500.
Only expansions are a sidecar with 2MB Fast RAM and hard drive, and an internal 2MB Chip RAM megachip.
It's an ECS machine running OS3.1 (a very stock installation - no mods).
When trying to pull up the palette mixer in DPaint 5, it rolls up from the bottom of the screen and shows for a split second then turns black.
Anyone know the cause of the problem?
I do also have DPaint 4 installed on this machine (installed prior to DPaint 5) and it works with the Palette. I'm wondering if DP4 installed some old library or something that DPaint5 couldn't overwrite with something it needs.
Thanks.

I might be thinking about OS3.0 on ECS, but there was a SetPatch released that fixed a problem with the palette on one version of DPaint.

I figured out what the problem was.
This A500 has an ECS Agnus, but still has the OCS Denise.
I then set up a similar Amiga in WinUAE that had an OCS chipset and tried to run DPaint5 in it.
Exact same problem (Palette mixer shows up black).
So DPaint5 requires ECS Denise.
Fortunately, I already have an ECS Denise on the way for this machine.

It is Dpaint5's way of saying it wants to run on an AGA chipset :biglaugh:
