Hi,
Looking where to assign 3c598 device driver for 3Com III Etherlink card for use
with Miami. Can't see where to assign the driver so MiamiInit see it when I open it up?
Thanks

3c589.device usually lives in Sys:Devs/Networks
So when selecting driver in Miami Choose Ethernet and type in 3c589.device.
Also Be sure to have Cardpatch and Card Reset in C: - I think you need to load these on boot but check the readme.
Also PCCard.library should be in Libs:

Interesting...
Happened to do this just about an hour ago. :) Got x3 of the network cards for $11 shipped with cables even.
so when you use MiamiINIT, I just typed in networks/3c589.device
(Assuming you left the install put the driver where it wants.)
And after that everything seem to setup automatically. Just be sure to uncheck the Printer thing towards the end, and let MiamiINIT save the file.
Go in Miami, and then load the settings from the MiamiINIT v3, usually it saved it as miamiinit.config.
Hope this helped.

Thanks for that advice, but I am getting a "device might be in use" error message
when I try to load to driver. Anybody got an suggestions.
Thanks

The PCMCIA does have a resetting issue, but I suppose power down for 10 seconds and give it another go.
If the problem persists then maybe the network card may be at fault?

Thanks, that didn't seem to help. I had this setup and running last year no problem.
I really do not think my hardware is at fault.

Note that it's "589", not "598".
Make sure you're calling CardPatch or CardReset in your Startup-sequence (or else insert the card after workbench has booted). Also ensure you don't have Squirrel SCSI interface software installed.
If you want to do a low-level test on the card, download SANAUtil from Aminet and run this in the shell:
sanautil -d 3c589.device status
