I just won this SCSI CD drive for $1.99 on ebay, figured that for that kind of money I'd take a shot at it working on my Amiga, LOL. ;)

If I understand correctly, all I need to connect this to my GVP Impact Series II controller is a 25 to 50 pin SCSI cable, and it will be supported in Workbench 3.1, correct? I'd configure it with HDToolbox, or the GVP utility, or something?
Sorry for the obviously dumb question, I haven't used a CD drive on an Amiga in over 10 years, and that last time was with an IDE unit! ;)

You will need a 25 pin to centronics scsi cable. The external cdrom already has terminator on it. Then you need a cdrom driver, you can use the one from wb3.1 or any other commercially available one like amicdfs. Easier to setup than wb3.1. Remember to select the right scsi device and all should work. It seems the cdrom is set as id 5, which is fine, as long as your hd is not the same id. You can check the id with sysinfo and the scsi tab, before you connect the cdrom.
Enjoy!:pint:

Test it in a PC first!
Should be pretty straight forward to set up on a PC, and it will save you hours only to potentially find out that the drive is a dud anyway :p

Excellent, thanks! :D

I second that, after finding out the hard way...

Well the PC must have the right slot and support the card. I found that out the hard way. AsimWare's CD software (found on the Zone) will do all of the work for you. Not all (none of my) external CDROMs have built in termination.

Second vote for AsimCDFS. I set up mine with it, and it works great and easy to set up. I also used MakeCD for burning CDs.
