Hi everyone,
My friend and I are looking at starting our own business.
Now we know its possibly not the best climate currently to try and do this, but as there is nothing really anywhere near us that offers what we are looking at doing, then we thought best to strike and get it up and running before anyone else and corner the market.
Now this may seem silly but we are REALLY struggling to think of a good name for our company (most other things were easy to sort).
Now we have a few names we come up with and have set up a poll to see if people can help us pick the best:
http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/3ZKL663
To give you a low down on what we are offering to help you understand what sort of name we are trying to go with, we are looking at setting up a "social gaming" center where people can come and play all sorts of games:
Computer/console gaming (XBox, PS) (games & consoles provided by us)
Board games (provided by us):
General board games (Ticket to ride, Twilight Imperium, Small world and various others),
Co-op board games (Castle Panic, Pandemic)
Fantasy themed RPG games (e.g. Descent Journeys in the Dark, Warhammer Quest, latest Dungeons & Dragon Board games)
Collectible/living card games (facilities to play provided only, although may have stater packs for people to use) (Magic the Gathering, Warhammer Invasion, Summoner wars)
We are looking into setting everything up so you can just turn up and play what you want for however long we are open offering the facilities required for each type of game.
We are also looking at setting up tournaments, leaderboards, on-going campaigns with dungeon masters etc, membership packs and all sorts of stuff.
We will also have a website with info on the company, opening times, costs and information on each of the board and card games.
If successful we plan to expand the range (& number of copies) of board games, and the latest consoles (maybe even add in a retro section where people can play older console games) to keep people interested and coming back for more
Please let us know what you feel is the best name for us to go with :-)
Regards,
AmiBoy

Incense Games is a good name with exotic touch!
-
Thanks very much :-)
-
I liked Karma very much :D
It's exotic like "Incense games" plus the "game over" connection with games :)

Be sure to search the trademarks database of your country, choosing something that is too close to an existing trademark will cause problems if your company actually becomes successful...
-
Thanks, we will check them out to just be on the safe side!

Game Hub is easy to remember.
I don't like the other choices.
-
Thanks ChuckT, much appreciated.
-
Also you can use the name in other languages for example Juegos Incienso, Incienso Games, etc., in case of registered names.
-
Id'd have to go with ChuckT's edit of one of the titles. The Games Hub sounds a bit clunky but Game Hub is monosyllabic and catchy.
If the name you DO want to go with is already taken, you can always purposely misspell words to make it unique. For instance, I am changing my pizzeria's name to "Madd Hatter's Pizza" just to avoid any lawyer crap...

There was a case I read about where the Washington Post newspaper forced the Washington Host restaurant to change it's name in spite of the fact that the restaurant was 1800 Km away and didn't use any of the Washington Posts trademarks....

Go for G4M3 HUB to really make sure the trademark vampires^H^H^H^H lawyers can't sink their teeth into you.

Thanks Nicholas.
