50 MHz must be better than 33 MHz ;)

in Vesalia there are ACA1231/42Mhz for 150 (no MMU) and 180 (with MMU). It seems ACA1231/42Mhz is faster than Blizzard1230/50 thanks to its faster memory interface.

Are you going to install scsi drives? In that case Blizzard is the only option, otherwise I would probably choose ACA1231/42

Depends, do you need scsi,  how much ram do you need? Do you need FPU?
If you need much ram the aca-1232 or blizzard with 128MB or 256MB ram with scsi add-on is your bet.

If you do not need scsi or FPU or more then 64MB ram I would say get the aca-1231/42MHz.

Since I do not need FPU on my 1200 I have an aca-1231/42MHz, I am fully happy  and do not need more then 64MB ram. I'll take the faster CPU any day over 128MB ram from the 1232.

Tho I would like scsi but I like to have new hardware, less chance of it breaking (I hope).
This is my views.

I thought vesalia shipped world wide?

Do you plan to play the basic 3D games like gloom etc?
If not all you need is a ram expansion or the aca-1220 if you have a hard time to find a decent ram expansion.
You can play most whdload games without an 030.

So the cheapest route depending what you want to do is a ram expansion, 4 or 8MB trapdoor expansion will get you quite far for whdload.

The ACA 1231 is an amazing card, very fast. But pushes the A1200, I ended up with timing issues.

My A1200 is off getting fixed, will be a good combination once it's all together again :-)

Vesalia do have worldwide shipping, and the only place to get the ACA 1231 as a new item :-)

this is very true as I have a Blizzard 1220 @33 with FPU & 4MB that works great with WHDLoad.  Actually played Wing Commander a while back and I was surprised it held its own compared to my Blizzard 030@50-32MB (though obviously the 030@50 was much smoother when there was more than a few fighters around you :-)

If no need for FPU, I think ACA will be better. I have Blizzard and love this card, but I choose this card because of FPU. If you are from Poland, you can buy ACA in retroami, in Poland.

I also had to do timing fixes on my A1200, have you heard anything from amigakit on how its going? tho I have heat issues with Lisa with the indivision AGA MK2, no one can explain why but my miggy is not usable without active cooling. But it works great so besides some fans it runs great so I do not complain also when I did the timing fixes I had no issues and could do it myself :) I recently got my hands on nice copper heatplates from old macs which I will use to build new cooling :)

Yeah a few megs of extra ram can take you a long way :) I've also played a lot of whdload games on just a few extra megs in the past, if it did not run removing the preload tag did get quite a few large games to run anyways :)

It seems 030 doesn't understand that memory is faster and works with both in fast page mode

I would go for the Blizzard. More MHz, more stable with most A1200. SCSI upgradable, FPU and max RAM at 256 MB.

Blizzard is better, no question.  My old Blizzard 030 managed almost 10 MIPS and with an FPU I could also run a couple of the more modern demos.

The only ACA that leaves a Blizzard 030 behind is the super fast 56Mhz 030.

Blizzard 030 50Mhz DOOM (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tUbEwkWr4E4)

ACA 56Mhz DOOM (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mffCQHTiJwI)

ACA vs Apollo 060

ACA 56Mhz Full Throttle (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e1ab50oK_yc)

Apollo 80Mhz Full Throttle (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n-ZdriEtrgY)

I have a GVP 1230-II, it is absolutely flawless with WHDLoad.

Yeah, I think 4MB should be enough for most games.

-edit- Actually, any other thoughts on that one? 8MB would definitely be plenty.

If you just want to play whdload games buy the cheaper one, whdload games just need some fast ram (amiga games not quacke, doom and pc era games)
