So, here's the thing. I finally got my 8 MB ram exp. board from Kipper2k and it works great. But ! When I try to load a 710 KB module into Protracker, the darn thing fills up all the available chip ram and then it rolls over and plays dead saying: Not enough ram.
Is there a way to avoid this ?

Sample data must reside in Chip RAM in order to be played back. 98% of a module is sample data. So no, there is no way to avoid this, not with ProTracker.
You could use a tracker which plays samples through AHI (for example DigiBoosterPro). But this needs a fast CPU.

Also the last version of OctaMED could play samples from fast ram :)

Or you could upgrade your CHIP RAM. (Unless you have an A1000)
On my A500, a few minor changes on my MB and I had 1M CHIP.
Then added a MiniMegaChip and I've got 2M CHIP...
A bit tougher than just software, but the Amiga loves it's CHIP RAM. ;-)
