I know there is AmigaSYS AGA (which is great by the way)...do you plan to support AGA version of AmiKit?

It's an emulator package (among other things) - it does AGA just fine.

AmiKit is a super piece of kit and gets nowhere near as much appreciation as it should, IMO - cheers for the update!

Can the WB-patches be downloaded separately if you're not using Amikit but a custom WB-installation?

It better work!  It always worked in the past.  I tested it a zillion times.  But I have not tested any Amikit updates for the last 2 years.  It if it does not work or acts screwey pls notify me so I can go to Defcon 1 Nuclear Armageddon Emergency. :)

How many MiggyHz (Mhz) does ur laptop have?  What cpu?

AmiKit is an high-end distribution. However AGA version of some kind is being considered.

It seems the TotalChaos works with AmiKit 1.6.4, uff. The world is saved :)

Why it would support ppc emu? The news text says it's a distribution of classic software - which means 68k.
Btw, I did some test with old AthlonXP2500+ CPU a long time ago. The emulated Amiga system with such an ancient CPU was 18x faster than real system with 060/60Mhz CPU.

Yeah, I don't know why anyone would want to emulate a ppc kludge.

I love this.  The first time I have tried it and it is beautiful.

Thanks!!

PPC support would be amazing but I know that will not be forthcoming.

As to why people would want PPC, those of us that would love to try OS4 but do not have the money or space for another computer would be thrilled with emulation.

But I think you knew that ;)

well it loads up fine but I seem to be stuck on the main Setup I screen as I can move the mouse, music is ok but can't do anything with the mouse or keyboard to get off the main screen?

I've got the main WB screen running at 1024x600-16 bit, other games open up in window mode & play really nice though I do notice some graphic corruption at the top of window bars?

I'm running a Samsung N120, think it's 1.6 Ghz Atom.

It sounds exactly like Jan installed a 100% totally illegal "Automatically activate frontmost Screen/Window Hack".  Which can't ever work on AmigaOS and automatically breaks all Amiga software that uses parent/child screens.

It sounds like an exceptionally evil one.

Either that or its a bug in AROS somewhere somehow.

BUG: User cannot click on ANY AmigaOS gadgets.  Not string gadgets.  Not regular gfx gadgets.  Bug happens on one of the parent/child screens.  Game is 100% unplayable if you can't click on things.

User's mouse obviously works since he double clicked the icon to start the game.

If u can get Jan or Bernd to look at this they can prob fix it in 5-55 mins.

There is a small chance that it is a bug in WinUAE where WinUAE thinks the mousepointer is one place, but really it is another place.  You can test for this by clicking randomly all over the screen in crazy places to see if you can activate one of the 10 gadgets on the screen.

As to the window corruption in the titlebars of other games that sounds like it could be:
A: A bug in AROS
B: A bug in some other hack
C: Not a bug, Just some illegal hack doing its job

@klx300r
Can u click AmigaOS gadgets in any other AGA software?

I am not sure what AGA software uses or does not use AmigaOS gadgets though.  Lots of stuff opens an AGA screen but who knows how their gadgets are handled.

Maybe your problem only afflicts AGA software?
Maybe your problem only afflicts AGA full screen software?

You could try Dpaint, Ppaint, Octamed Sound Studio, etc.  To see if u get the same problem or not.

If its a bug in Winuae on ur specific puter then Toni will need lots of clues I assume.

Might be some kind of "mouse buttons stop being processed" bug in winuae that only afflicts the specific version of OS that u have on that puter?  I bet u a million $ u r using a USB mouse.

UPDATE:
no worries you Master Mage you as I was fiddling around with Amikit on my netbook and got her working great along with the latest version of Total Chaos AGA so the force is back on the light side in my house:D

problem appeared to be that my netbook didnt like Magellen on the WB and also didn't like certain themes with the classic WB.  After fidling and resetting Amikit too many times to remember I finally got her working great with the Classic WB and Amikit 'light' theme (no pun intended). Only then did the top window bars get rid of that graphic corruption and allowed me to get the latest updates.

I am very happy you got everything working for you. :) Whew!:nervous:

Sadly this whole episode makes me scared to tell the general public that they can freely play Total Chaos on their pc with WinUAE+Amikit.  If there is some sort of incompatibility with Laptops...  Regular Jow Blow will never put the time and effort in to getting things to work on his laptop that you did.  Regular folks just want an easy click and go solution.  Which I was hoping to publicize after I get my ergo keyboard built.

Since I don't even fully understand the problem, I can't do tech support for ppl on this issue.

I guess if ppl have problems I will just send them to you. :biglaugh:

@ ChaosLord

:roflmao: knowing how (or having the stubborn will) to 'tinker' with software & especially hardware is synonymous with being an amigan (aka Amiga user ).
