Title: Brother HL-1440 on Amiga
Post by: Acill on January 26, 2004, 12:55:45 AM
Has anyone been able to get this printer to work with an amiga ans OS 3.9? I dont see it supported in Turbo Print at all. Its a nice laser printer and I want to use it for Amiga and shut off the PC once and for all.

Do you like the HL-1440? Amazon has it for a really good price and according to them it does pcl4 emulation. That should make it work very well with an Amiga. I have studio printer drivers and use a Richo bizworks under lazerjet emulation. Some progames that print  slow have to be spooled or the parts of the page print out on several sheets of paper. Other then that it works great.  I would also like to get turbo print as it has the only  upto date drivers for inkjets. The main thing to remember for lazer printers is if it  does pcl emulation it should work! I hope this helps. -Xerxes Wahl

Try a laserjet II or laserjet IIplus if you have them.

Hello there Acill,

We've also got the same printer here, we had got it working with one of the HL drivers (sorry can't remember which), but it was VERY SLOW. I wish more support (drivers wise) could be implemented for new devices.
