Is there a way to keep Amiga.org from timing out and booting me off the website every 2 minutes. Is there a way to extend this to a little longer, like 45 min or so? It's really beginning to annoy the heck out of me.
-
Its been annoying me for years. Other websites let you pick an amount of time.
-
Wait what? im online here 24/7 and have never been kicked out... Always logged in without issues here :S
-
I'm really getting sick of it. Seriously....after about 5 minutes, it times out and I have to log back in. Somebody needs to fix this.

What web browser are you using?
Just try anoter browser and see if it work, if it does, you have to check your cookie setting on your current one.
-
Did you tick the register box below the login and password? It's not just to register it also keeps you logged in.
-
I have a screen name, so I'm already registered. To be able to post on this website, you have to be registered. What exactly do you mean? Is there a box that actually says "click here to remain logged in"?
-
Yes the register tick box is how you stay logged in. Make sure it is ticked even if you have an account.
-
But if I am already registered, is there a way to "select that option to stay logged in" after the fact?
-
What they mean is u have 2 choices:
A: Be logged in permanently forever and ever and ever.
B: Be logged out every few minutes forever and ever and ever.
There is no "Be logged in a reasonable amount of time" option.
-
I don't know why it says "register," it is pretty misleading as it has nothing whatsoever to do with member registration. Nevertheless, yes, that check box is what you want.
-
You can also go to who's online. That keeps you logged in forever as it reloads every 60 seconds. I think Amiga.org automatically logs you out if you don't do anything for a certain amount of time. Who's online gets around this.
-
Sounds more like your browser at fault.
IE/Chrome/Firefox haven't experienced being logged out after 2 minutes. Maybe try clearing your cookies, or try another browser.

I do not think so, at least not within a 12-24h time span, I am logged in 24/7 and I am just at the index.php when im at work or away, I only get logged out if I switch between my static IP's and as long as I do not change my global IP I do not get logged out even if I restart the computer.
-
I'm using a password manager (LastPass) so never have to bother typing the logins/passwords - done automatically.

This is my problem. They are logging my out every time I step away or not type anything for a few minutes. If I am actively using the website, I don't have any problems but logging my out after 5 minutes is rediculous.
I am already a registered member and it appears that I did not check the box in the past. My dillema is how do I enable this option now that I am already registered. Is there a menu where I can select this option. I did not see a box that says "keep me logged in forever".
-
Hey Barney, what you need to do is log out.
Once you do that, you will see the login fields in the top right hand corner. Under the username and password boxes is a check box that says register etc etc. CLICK THAT BOX! As others have said, the wording is a bit off as it should say "stay logged on"
That should get you back in the game. ;)
Good luck!

When signed out, open a thread and press reply. The login screen shown there has "Remember me" - checkbox.
I had always wondered why there is a checkbox with "Register..." on the top of the page!
-
Thanks Amiga CDTV, that worked. I found the "remember me" box.
