Title: Tonights project.
Post by: XDelusion on December 16, 2012, 12:20:08 AM
I have spent this week going to town on all the broken XBOX's I have inherited over the past few years.

I have recovered them all but two which have been stripped clean of parts and are headed to the garbage.

The one I am testing on right now has had ScummVM installed, a Sony Playstion Emulator, Snes, Nes, Sega/CD/32X, Atari XL/XE, MSX2+, and of course Odamex!!!!

http://odamex.net/

Which has been partially ported to AROS thus far:

Hopefully we'll see ports to our other beloved Amiga based OS's too!!!

That being said, I am going to check out the optimized release of XPort's WinUAEX tonight.

I wish I knew how to solder on extra RAM to my XBOX, because I'm sure it would come in handy here! None the less, I do believe I this will be a worth while project. Not a replacement for my real Amiga(s) by any means, but something interesting to do none the less.

A video someone posted. ;)

Good effort!

But I can't help wondering if a mouse would make it a more pleasureable experience   :)

Ahem...

I use XBMC as the OS for my XBOX, with this adapter it will detect when a mouse and keyboard are connected correctly. I can control the OS with the Mouse and Keyboard, plus WinUAEX fully supports them as well, not to mention Odamex! ;)

The xbox is a nice little machine to play with, I run Linux on mine also, and in the past ive even tried to run Linux hosted AROS on it (it works but is waaaay to slow more ram needed).
What dashboard are you using?

But good luck playing around with your xbox :)

Ditto, never messed with the Linux side of things much though, realized I'd need an extra 64Mb of RAM installed to really enjoy it much.

This is the first I have messed with WinUAEX in years. Seems like I'm having more luck than I did with the older releases. Still no replacement for my real Amiga(s), but a nice way to play games though, that much is for sure...

At this point, I'd rather just use my real Amiga(s) to make them and make Musick. :)

I got EUAE installed on my PS3 YellowDogLinux v6.2 (I didn't want to "downgrade" my PS3, so I still have OtherOS on it.)
The system runs not bad on PS3, but I wished that the speed was a little better then what it is. I did noticed that switching the CPU type (68030->68040) did not increase the speed, the MIPS where always close to each other.
I also have UAE installed on my XBOX, but it's been a while since I used it.
Few days ago I uploaded the video which been sitting on my HD for few months.

That's the first time I ever got to see Amiga on a PS3...

...Linux for that matter! :)

Is that running on one of the original "fat" PS3's? Because I thought Sony had locked out the use Linux on the newer models.

Fw versions 3.21 (but you could either jailbreak or just stay at an older fw) and forth had the other os removed tho it's still possible to access it trough CFW and since the lv0 (bootldr) keys are out in the wild we will see current Fw's decrypted in the near future with other os enabled.

Yes, that's on the Phat PS3, it's the 20GB model, I did not wanted to upgrade the FW so it could downgrade my PS3.
I used to have Fedora running on it too, but most sw was not running too well, so I switched to YDL.
I also have MAC emulator on it, it's not as good as the Shapeshifter on Amiga, some MAC sw refuses to work or crashes the emulator.
