Now that I finally got an actual Amiga, I'm particularly interested in buying an actual copy of Disney Animation Studio (I used to simply use an ADF file before).
However, the only one currently available on Ebay goes for over a 100 bucks.
Is Walt Disney Animation Studio really that rare?

I found the dos version a while back and it seems to be hard to find now.
Mine was cheaper than the shipping. I go it off of http://www.Amazon.com .

They don't stock the Amiga version though.
Wish I had bought it when I had the chance a few years ago.
In any case: If I can find no one willing to sell me a Amiga copy for a decent price, I'll probably revert to the DOS release.
Would it be difficult to replace the DOS specific files with Amiga files that can be read by the real hardware? Or is this simply a matter of formating the disk and copying the files over*?
*I'd essentially turn the DOS release into an Amiga release

I am not for sure how to answer that one. You may need Cross Dos. I need the last two files on Disk 4. I do not use them any way. I use Dos Box to run DAS. I loaded them on to a hard drive with a FDD from a PC.

Ok. Fair enough.
They appear to be High-Density, so I probably couldn't even load them properly.
Guess I'll have to look for a real Amiga copy.

I bet you can put those files onto a 720K disk and copy them over using cross dos.
You may need about 10 disks.

I used the Amiga version years ago, and aside from simplicity, it was very limited. You can do 10 times more with DPaintV

value? because it is "disney"? To animators, to acknowledge a previous post - DpaintIV (or V) are much more capable, but to Disney(tm) collectors, i dunno.... put it on ebay in the disney VHS category... heh.

I know it's very simple and limited (which, as a Sculptris/Archipelis user kind of appeals to me). But if not for productivity work I would, at the very least, like to have a copy for my vintage collection.
So if anyone wants to sell his, send me a PM.

If there is only one on ebay then it's pretty rare, however as it hasn't sold then either nobody wants it or at least nobody wants it at that price.
The argument for re-listing at a high value is that if the seller doesn't actually need to get rid of it now, then in the future someone might come along who is willing to pay the asking price. Auction sites work well when there are a couple of people willing to pay a reasonable price, but if you are only likely to get one person bidding then setting your starting price is important. Too low and you'll feel upset when it sells, too high and it will never sell.
You could always send the seller a message saying how much you're prepared to pay and see if he'll at least start the bidding at your value next time he lists it. Although if you want to get it for 0.99 then it's probably not worth your time.
