Just as the name suggests.
I have recently aquired a 1200. The case is yellowed and I am thinking of upgrading it. Which is why I am curious as to if you can still buy tower kits.

Nevermind, guess the usual haunts are all out, 'cept for bus boards maybe. Up to frankensteining your own?

If my dremil skills were better then I would have a stab at butchering a cheap pc case lol. I am in two minds if I want to go down the mediator route with this system. Dunno if I would get the use out of it though. The case mod was part of the decision process.

Question! Since the cost is going to reach you the same level as owning an Amiga 4000D or Amiga 4000T. Why not leave your A1200D the way it is and simply buy an Amiga 4000D or Amiga 4000T?

I have an Eyetech EZ tower and a few accessories such as IDE fix and keyboard adapters which I no longer have use for but have so far been too lazy to sell.

trust me I have been looking and they don't pop up very often. Plus I doubt I would have the money for one if I did find a system for sale. But at the moment I am still toying with the idea of modding it.

Rob how much would you ball park think it would cost for it?
Again this is all just research. I haven't got a solid idea what I want from the machine yet other than playing games and learning AMOS.

Please don't cheapen your Amiga by putting it into a cheap case.
Here's what i would use: http://www.fractal-design.com/?view=start&category=2&prod=

The D-Box is an Amiga tower case and didn't come too cheap. And with Mediator+PPC combination on my A1200 I had to cut some metal from the top that the ppc-card fitted. There seems to be many variants of the D-Box floating around, it's not just ONE definite design.

Roll your own like franko did - it looks nice.
Although, i can't find the pic of it anymore.

DIY is nice but I accidentally short-circuited a mobo using one. That's when I scrapped the old tower and got an official one.
My old tower pictures are on Amibay (http://www.amibay.com/album.php?albumid=37) if someones interested. :)

£45 plus shipping for the tower + PC-Key1200 + IDE Fix + IDE CDRW and IDE cables. I don't think I have a suitable PSU spare so you'll need to sort that out yourself.

Doesn't amigakit sell tower kits???
-
Well they have a tower listed as in stock for 112 USD. It is a beige box but almost any car repair shop will put a sharp color job to it. I'd love one in metallic silver with a high gloss finish. It will resist dings a lot better this way.

Hmmm I am tempted. However the wife has just put her foot down and said not till after the new year. Talk about been shot down. :quickdraw:Would you mind sticking it to one side?
I have checked AmigaKit and they don't have any in stock on the UK store ATM. So unsure as to why there is one on the US store.......
Anyway wifey has brought the mighty "thou must do as your told" hammer down on me till after the new year. Gives me time to weight thinsg up I suppose.
