The same person has (or had) a new 128D for a BIN of $3200.00 and that was dropped from $3900.00 I believe.

Come on now, it is very very rare :)

But think of the money you'll save!!! =)

It's funny, I've seen a few things on eBay that are massively overpriced (eg $2000 headphones, $100 CF 'Amiga' cards). The people that sell these don't sell many of course, but they only have to sell a couple a month to make some decent coin.
-
This won't sell @ that price.
-
As I recall it was first listed at $999.00
-
Do you agree with the price?
No, it wouldn't even be a fair price if it were brand new. But it's been tested, so it's used. The box isn't mint & it's sold as is.
It's not even worth 1/5 of that.

Thats nothing...check this one out: C128D for 2 grands (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BRAND-NEW-COMMODORE-128D-vintage-computer-and-keyboard-RARE-/260973919535?pt=US_Vintage_Computers_Mainframes&hash=item3cc341fd2f)

I think i will sell mine, if i can get 2 grand for it :)
-
Check the shipping fee too...

If people want to sell at prices like this they should do it near the end of the fiscal year. That way department heads can protect their budgets by making sure they use up that spare cash pile from last years budget. No, don't laugh, I've seen that sort of thing for real. Crazy man, crazy.

That's the one that was selling for $3200.00. That thing ruined 128D prices for quite a while!
Some of the Raspberry Pi board prices are just as crazy - like $150.xx for a model B! Wonder what that excuse is - that's brand new hardware that sells for $35.00.
-
I wonder if all those stuff retrobrited professionally...

Ebay is a strange place. A lot of it I think is down to the fact that you can list an item and it only costs you a small fee to list it. So people will give it a cheeky shot at selling something for a rediculous price.
As for the Pi's well they have been comanding silly prices on Ebay since it was released. It's one of the must have gadgets and the sellers know that there will be someone stupid enough to buy them in order to avoid waiting for the next batch. Give it a few weeks and see what the Wii U starts selling at. Again people will be stupid enough to buy them instead of waiting for one.

Mine is in pretty good nick, surely used by an old age pensioner is as good as new!

The irony in all of this: He is making it sound like you are getting a good deal by saving $500 so everyone should jump the wagon and spend 2k for a computer that is 22+ years old.

No, it is a fraud!

How is he a fraud?
If someone buys this and receives it in the condition outlined by the auction text, then surely this is legit.
Shabby perhaps, but legit nontheless.
