Title: Stupid Xsurf ?
Post by: THEWASP on January 24, 2004, 12:11:08 AM
Just got my Xsurf card in the mail today. I have been out of the amiga world for a long time. Trying to get back in so bare with me here on questions that might seem obvious.......

I got the card and a cdrom with the install program?!?!?!  Will an IDE cdrom plug right into the Xsurf and take off on boot up or will I need drivers off the cdrom?!?!  I am kinda stuck if I need drivers off the cdrom to make a cdrom work to access the drivers in the first place.

My other option would be to dig in the pile and find my old NULL modem and transfer via the NULL from my Windows machine to the 3000.

Thought I would ask if the IDE cdrom will fly by simply plugging it in before I start digging and tearing things apart.

Do you have internet access on that Amiga? With modem maybe? I could send you the drivers, but could you get it to the Amiga?

From their docs, it sounds like the IDE isn't usable without a copy of IDE-Fix.  (ie. the drivers aren't even on the CD).  So, unless you have a copy of that around, the null modem cable (or perhaps floppy transfer) is your only hope.

OK thanks for a fast reply! You guys are great! I kinda took it from the docs that the IDE would not work without drivers which I assumed were on the cd. I am starting a floppy transfer now. I hope to have the Amiga on the internet later tonight!
