Hi everybody, I've had the pleasure to try out an original, addictive new game by saimo (Simone Bevilacqua) who we all know has brought us glUAE, BOH, KOG & now his latest creation is Huenison webite linky (http://www.retream.com/Huenison/)
Problem is the game is only for PC right now as his old A1-XE has called it quits after numerous attempts to have it patched up. I say we band together and help him purchase a new Sam460/A1-500 or X1000 as all his work is done on his Amiga! If we got together to buy a Sam460 for DJnick to give us some wallpapers surely we can help out Simone a little bit too (http://amigaworld.net/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif)
We all know that times have been rough lately so Anyone that wants to help out with the cause can donate at glUAE's homepage (donate button at bottom left of screen)(donate linky) (http://www.retream.com/glUAE/).

yeah, ive forgotten already, cool that you remind me of.
sooo.... has the deal with djnick really paid off? since i dont see him posting anymore and last time he did, he had some slightly modified third party backgrounds to offer, while he claimed not to have time to do more. and then he moved to some video project of him that he had ressurected from the nineties. so where is your *ground* *breaking* *os4* *theme*? perhaps its been shelved for another ten years like that video project'? or maybe he has already disposed of his os4 system on ebay and sneaked away?

@ wawrzon
He did put out a few nice startup jingles and some nice WB backdrops/Themes but my point is the community got together to get him set up and Simone has done all his development solely on his Amiga for years and is an OS4 veteran so he desperately needs new hardware.
As I'm a big fan of glUAE & BOH I was hoping to help him out with a few donations.
-
I'll pitch in a lill at payday just for the cause even tho I am not a aos 4 user :)

why not buy me a sam or x1000?? you could profit even more than from dj nick, because maybe, just maybe i would shut up about os4 till i had it resold?

:roflmao:
I think I should get a free x1000 so I can make leds blink.
I promise to share my massive development efforts with the amiga community.
-
C'mon guys there are a lot of other OS4.x threads to troll on so let this one be.

If your led blink works out and you get bored I'll take it off your hands and make your leds blink to music ;)

what os4 threads? i dont see any.. except the one about xena, but whats left to be said about it?
-
What happened with the Spotify donation? I think not much...
I personal doubt that donations of money and/or hardware without strict conditions really are successful. But if the OS4 camp have enough money to make gifts then they shall do it

is there at least one person who has got os4 machine donated, one who at least tried to stand up to his promises and reward the donors? belxjander? the open office guy? the spotify guys?
ahh, i can actually think of one! jason ported aros to sam460! yet none was asked to donate to him. acube did that themselves.

The ones like this that thankfully keep getting bumped and derailed by the usual suspects. Though strangely I do miss ol Piru as he never missed an OS4.x related thread here.
Keep on trolling boys as this is one thread I'd like the 2 or 3 remaining OS4.x users here to see only the first post. So predictable:knuddel:

Saimo never asked for getting new hardware:

Thanks for the clarification and hence my attempt to raise a few dollars for him because he NEEDS a new machine and would never ask for help but being a big fan of glUAE and BOH I was hoping to get some support and help him out. I realize this site is not exactly the target market for this type of thread though but I'd thought at least a few people might be interested here and as the trolls can't resist bumping any OS4.x related thread it's a win win

I have donated him a few EUR but I dislike the extend of "donation requesting" that has started in the community for some time.
-

Now THERE is the kind of spirit I like to see on this site.
Hey it doesn't need a port for the hardware Dammy would recommend.
Oh yeah, that would mean capitulation and assimilation.

Thanks much appreciated :-) it is voluntary to donate and if it helps out our developers and keeps them motivated it's a good thing to do

Saimo is the only Amiga developer who we have been able to buy real, physical copies of his games from in recent years. His games get published and supported properly, he is a professional independent developer and really deserving of some new hardware! I have been following his progress on this game and it would be so disappointing if it never came out on any Amiga OSs. I have no doubt that he wouldn't just take the money/Amiga and run, he's an honourable and humble guy who gets the job done!
Have you all played his wonderful tribute to Amiga games, MEMO? If not, give it a go and let the nostalgia put a smile on your face as you pick and recognise all the famous Amiga characters. Check it out here - http://www.retream.com/MEMO/ It'll run on any Amiga with a 020+, including ECS machines.
-
didnt know he has done anything on 68k, however in another thread on aw.net he made clear that he himself is not asking for any donations for os4 hardware. as far as i understood him hi says he isnt particularly interested in os or hardware at all. the amiga has just been an appropriate tool for him as long as it lasted. his a1 died and he is still looking at the options to replace it, but donations will not influence his future undertakings. i think this is pretty straightforward and honest.
-
The djnick "bounty" is really a shame and these are the consequences.
-
to explain my reaction... a short time ago someone requested to get the money for fuel to show his X1000 on a event. And then it is starting to become silly. And I had this in my head when I read the thread.
Helping a friend is totally different and we should help each other when possible

thanks Cammy i forgot to mention MEMO in my original post.
-
for those that may be interested to try MEMO on their classics !
'MEMO is a card memory game with some nice features, among which a simultaneous 2-player mode which adds the fun of battling a friend in real time.
You can find all the details on its website at MEMO webpage (http://www.retream.com/MEMO/)
The game is available for free download and glUAE users can get it downloaded, configured and installed for transparent emulation by the specific helper available on the HELPERS page of the glUAE website (http://www.retream.com/glUAE/)

*- for all that are interested, Simone has clarified a few questions over at aw.net thread (http://amigaworld.net/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=36852&forum=32)-*

just got an update that Simone is still without an Amiga :-(
thanks to all that have donated to date:)

A SAM460 is expensive.
I do donate Mac hardware to developers that want to port something to MorphOS and am also willing to pay for OS keys.
You guys get this guy a SAM460 and I'll pay for a MorphOS key for it when Pega-1 and the other developers have the port ready.
That way he has the option of developing on either OS.

yes the recent news of MorphOS being ported to a Sam460ex is a win-win! that's a generous offer:)
-
Nice to hear about this, but after the djnick thing I won't give another dime to fundraising campaigns. That was preposterous from start to finish, and I say that as a quite deeply entrenched member of the OS4 community.
Call me when product ships and I'll consider buying it then, I'm hoping to give this a whirl.

It would save him 110 euros.
And he sounds like he's got the kind of experience I'd like to see working under MorphOS (as well as OS4).
And..If any of you can point out other deserving developers I myself, AmigaDave, and several other people have hardware we can donate.
For a good cause, I'm also willing to pick up the tabs for license keys.
This type of thing only benefits me and all of you.
To give you an example, AmigaDave recently shipped two G5 Power macs all the way to South Africa so Mark "Bigfoot" Olsen could complete the port of MorphOS to the G5.
A MorphZone poster named Fraggle finished raising the bounty necessary to pay for this port.
So now we'll get G5 support.
I believe Acube is financing the SAM460 port.
And the previously mentioned Fraggle has donated a Mac Mini to the developer of Cinnamon Writer so he can finish a MorphOS port of that.
So see guys, this kind of thing DOES work.
No I'm not going to donate gas money so some nerd can exhibit his X1000.
If he can't afford gas, what's he doing with that expensive computer?
But I'll donate to a good cause in an instant.
Because it gets results.

Buy me a Sam board and I will gladly make random wallpapers and sounds.... :)
But Iggy best explained it.
