Title: Blizzard PPC fraud conclusion.
Post by: x56h34 on January 23, 2004, 06:46:21 PM
I would like to thank everyone for their support in regards to the recent Blizzard PPC fraud.

Great news! I received most of the money back! PayPal's investigation worked smashingly well and now I have received 238.27GBP back out of 275GBP which I had originally paid. So that's about -37GBP for me, but considering that I've had nothing and now I have something, I am satisfied.

I can live with -37GBP, and I'll take it as a lesson on never to foolishly jump on a deal which sounds SWEET before investigating. I just figured that in the Amiga community there was a non-existent chance of scammers, but now I know better.

All in all, a big FU to the scammer(s) and a happy day for me. May the remaining 37GBP in their account serve them as money to buy some food/drinks on which they could choke on.

EDIT:

See THIS (http://www.amiga.org/forums/showthread.php?t=5998) thread for more information if you missed out on my and Dragster's complaints.

No reply whatsoever from the seller/scammer. It was a classic hit and run. :-)

The fact that you got most of the money back is very pleasing! :-)

@x56h34

Did any of that information prove useful? ;-) By the way, have you tried asking the CC if they can reclaim the remainder of the funds?

@all

Having gone through a similar experience myself, may I say this ALWAYS PAY WITH A CREDIT CARD where possible, as CC companies can be very helpful in reclaiming funds.
Also, as I think Framiga has mentioned in the past, COD where possible.

auction fraud is rampant, according to the u.s. government...

I was also a victim, and paypal concluded their investigation in my favor.  I was out u.s.$105 dollars and they were able to collect $4.79

so...I still lost the hundred bucks, but in my case I just defrauded a few ppl and made my money back anyway....(OK THAT LAST LINE WAS A JOKE)...but the rest was real.

its OK... hundred bucks, and lesson learned.

 :-x

That makes me mad!!!

Well, happy to see you got refunded almost all your investment, but still, it's such a scummy thing to do!

Conversly, I actually purchased my A4000 over the net from some guy in the US. Aside from having my monitor busted in the mail, it all went fine. But that was years ago, before the scammers realized how easy it was to manipulate eBay for their own sinister deeds.

Tell me about it; I paid some wanker in Washington state $50 for a teeshirt that he never sent, moreover he told me he'd send me a patch or update for AmigaOS and that never arrived either!

Bastards, preying on the remaining Amiga users...

 :-D  :-D  :-D

Oh, and "'Shake well before use,' she said 'but you never touch me anymore, always busy listening for phone sex, coming through the back door.' "
