I was a member of an Amiga group in North London years ago, I want to start an new Amiga group for London and the UK to promote the Amiga platform , meet up for gaming on classic systems, start new Amiga hardware projects, advice, keeping the Amiga community alive for the 21st century etc .
There are only 2 other's I know who still love and play Amiga in London , so support is pretty thin on the ground. Anytime I go to PC or apple show and start talking to people about Amiga, I just get weird looks. I want to reach out to anyone interested in attending our meetings every 2 weeks or who want to help.
Who's with me in keeping the dream alive? I know this is probably not the place to post this, and it might piss some people off(I'm sorry) but we have to start to build up small Amiga groups up and down the country , thus build support and awareness of a truly great platform. And who Knows it might build and build into something much bigger? We have to start again from some where. I have thought about A-ON sponsoring us and have sent an email. How many people in the uk are members of this site? would be good to get a headcount of these cool free thinking lot.

Your new group needs a name. Let's all make suggestions. I'll start:
London area blokes interested in Amiga stuff

Oh, the club Amiga North Thames (ANT) doesn't fill your needs?

What is current state of user groups in Britain anyway?
Back in 90's and early 2000 I used read about great meetings in the magazines like Cu Amiga, and later on in Amiga Active (?).
Always wanted to visit one of these meetings. As flights are pretty cheap to London, what are my changes to visit active one these days? Any usergroups really active and having regular meetings foreign people would be welcomed to join?

Id be interested.

Would be good if the group met around London, rather than in just North London.

morphos users welcome?
I don't think any have ever come, but I'd be surprised if they weren't.

Having met some ANT members before, I'd be surprised if they were ;-)
I did have the impression it was classic/os4 only .. but I'm happy if I just got a false impression.

I don't see why not.
I would like to see Morphos running to compare red and blue flavours.
I've seen Amiga emulators of all kinds running on all sorts of machines.
For example, we have had a couple of Raspberry Pis running AROS during one meeting.
Please come along to the next meeting and see what you think.

I wonder when the next ANT meeting is? It's not mentioned on the website. Could it be the 2nd Sunday of every month, meaning 13-01-13, or are you avoiding that date, because it includes two number thirteens?
BTW, when I was there on 09-12-12 it seemed that every member owned an AmigaOne computer with a Sam board, running AmigaOS 4.1.

If there was an AST (Amiga South Thames) I'd probably be able to pop along once in a while, but travelling across London is a pain, even with the overground.
