MorphOS.pl in co-operation with Mark 'BigFoot' Olsen is pleased to announce that bounty for MorphOS port to a PowerMac G5 has been opened.
The bounty goal is to port MorphOS on PowerMac G5 computer. Bounty requirements are as follows:
- The port of MorphOS must work on one model of PowerMac G5: A1047 (7,3 - M9747LL/A) (http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/powermacg5/specs/powermacg52.0dppci.html).
- Support of other PowerMac G5 models is not preculded, but is not required.
- Support of Bluetooth module and AirPort (WiFi) module is not required.
- Only one CPU will be supported.
- Bounty donations are not related to MorphOS license. Any contributor wanting to buy a MorphOS license for PowerMac G5, will pay the regular price.
- Bounty timeframe: 3 months after the programmer receives the machine (see below).
- The bounty minimal sum is set to 3000 EUR.
- The port will be developed by Mark "Bigfoot" Olsen.
Co-owner of MorphOS.pl portal Wiktor "Pampers" Głowacki will contribute a PowerMac G5 machine and its shipping to the South Africa, where Mark Olsen lives currently. After bounty completes, the machine becomes a property of the bounty developer.
If you would like to contribute you can do that here:

Nice! Will be picking up a G5 once MorphOS runs on it. Definitely will steam roll any X1000 or any Amiga OS 4 capable hardware.
Then again, my Amiga 1200 will always be greater than OS 4.
**Please don't get worked up, I don't give a crap at what is better. This is troll bait, ignore!**

Gave up on MOS when wifi support didn't come with the last release for the laptops.
Good news for fans though.

If you don't want to wait for drivers, you can easily get any machine to wireless network for example with Asus WL-330N router, which is smaller than credit card so it doesn't bother much even if it's external :) There's even 3G version if you want, WL-330N3G.

Damn - I have a different model (PowerMac 7.2). I hope it will be supported.

I thought the G5 port was mostly done, we have seen lots of pics of it running.. I think there was a vid too somewhere of it running on a g5... this was a couple of years back.. dont know why it was never official.

It's "running" pretty much in the same sense as OS4 is "running" on Mac Mini.
Booting up but lacking essential drivers to be usable.

Including fan speed control.
The last thing you want to listen to continuously is a G5 with its fans running full bore.

Are you talking about cooling fans or early 00's Mac enthusiasts? :)
