Title: Problem with new Amiga.org smartphone app
Post by: Kesa on October 15, 2012, 08:42:41 AM
Loving the new Amiga.org smartphone app for my new iphone5. Good effort guys!

But i am having a couple of issues. I keep getting "unknown authentication error" when i log in. But when i log in again it works. Is it just me or anyone else?

Also i think it is a liitle too hard to zoom in/out on the menu tabs for my liking. But overall, good effort!

What app?

It's not on the Apple app store from what I can tell.

Where did you get the app? Is it officially sanctioned by Amiga.org?

I've been wondering about this for a while given the huge number of sites that try to push their apps down your throat instead of just using their website. Suppose there was a trojan out there that could infect a phone, or lead you to believe a phone app specific to a forum you visit is available when using the browser on your computer. Either way somehow you are led to install a fairly generic forum app onto your phone which works with a huge number of forums and just routes you based on what the infected device picks up as a CMS you visit frequently, maybe with a tailored message to "Download the forum app!". It could even scrape a few graphics from the site to make it look official. Client installs the app (for whatever reason), app harvests passwords, malicious app dev wins and you lose. All it would have to do is act as a proxy to the real site, or not even that, just collect the user credentials and give a "login failed" message with a link to the real site.

I got a PM from Pyro and he said he's on to it. It's in beta so you can't expect it to work first time i guess.

He also said Android is on the way...

I didn't create an Amiga.org iPhone App. Maybe someone else did?

I just looked but could not find any software that allow smartphone(s) to record video via USB or HDMI port even with docking station. Im I missing something or are smartphone not that smart.

Ie suppose I wanted to record my amiga via a converter direct to smartphone or is it not possible to do this on smartphone(s).
