Title: Your rainy day game
Post by: CritAnime on October 08, 2012, 03:18:48 AM
Whats your rainy day game? What game makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside when outside it's misserable and pouring rain?

For me it's Super Frog or Rod Land. I don't know why but both make me feel feel good when it's raining and I want a pick me up game.

I always find myself back with the first Monkey Island game on a rainy day. Maybe it is because i have so many found memories from my childhood that i keep playing it.
But also bubble bobble, Golden Axe and Double dragon 2

Hi,

Soliton or Megaball, funny how the shareware games are the ones I like best.
All I have to say is that the programmers of Megaball were awesome, the music, the game design, the playability, the high score list. FANTASTIC!!!

Soliton, ever just want a quiet game to play while you listen to those Amiga created MODS, you know no hurry, no noise, soliton is the game to play especially on a rainy day, once again addictive.

Good list. Though I do find the controls on Golden axe to be a little twitchy. Could be me though.

Yes,

but under the gruesome watch of Karlos, Argo, and other moderators, as they all know that I am a loonier person than Franko, 10 years at amiga.org has driven away my sanity, and has turned me into a being that is the most insane person here. I hate pancakes they are always on my head, and I can't figure out how to put the syrup on them without getting my head all sticky, and did you ever put a fork in a pancake thats on your head, it actually hurts.

Love ya Smerf.
BTW - MorphOS is a MAC done a LOT better

And CritAnime,
I don't have an iPad.
Or anything else from Apple without a PPC processor.

I've never been a real Steve Jobs fan.

I'll have to look up Soliton, but Megaball (and MegaBall AGA) is right up there for me.
Not just a fun game, but one of the quickest ways back to the happy feelings of the late 80's...

Also, Super Hang On.

Something about those games.
I think partly because they aren't too difficult to play either.
No matter how much worse I get at playing games as I get older, those are still fun.. ;-)

For rainy days I like dungeon crawlers, like Dungeon Master.
Nothing beats the sensation of exploring the depths of a stone-and-metal dungeon plagued with mosters and riddles while you hear the rain falling outside...and the occasional "huh!" "aagh!" "huh!" "clank, clank!" "gwraaarrr" "clank, clank"

There's a lot to choose from; Cannon Fodder is one, another used to be MechForce.

But Moria is always one I return to, until I get frustrated  by having a powerful character killed by an endless swarm of tiny gnats, then I put it away for a few months.

UFO Enemy Unknown will always be one of my favourites, but I'm always afraid to start playing it because I simply cannot stop once I've started the game - it's suspensful!

ah man, UFO, i'd forgotten about that...
yeah, it's never just a "quick ten mintues" with that one is it?

Soliton, Conquest (also known as Lore of Conquest), Shanghai, Megaball, Lemmings

On my PPC system I play Soliton 2.2 which is a MUI based card game, and Mahjongg (this one is a port to OS4).  I use E-UAE for Conquest, Shanghai and Megaball.

I also like Hook on the Amiga it has a little bit of Monkey Island style to it. And cruise for a corpse. Stunt Car Racer and Gloom is quite fun to :-)

I want to try AB3D but unfortunatley I got my 1200 out today and discovered the disk drive has packed in. I am in the process of buying another HxC to replace it. I could emulate it as I have Amiga Forever but I want to play it on original hardware ;)

That was a shame, hope you get it fixed soon. Yes it is best to play on original hardware :)

Partyland from Pinball Fantasies.

When I first got my A1200 in November 1992 I had to plug it into the TV so it looked great on a 28" CRT. Used to sometimes sit there till 3 or 4 in the morning! It never looked the same on the 14" Microvitec 1438 - which is still working [when I fire it up!!].
