Title: AmigaOS boot partition size -- how much?
Post by: Invisix on January 21, 2004, 11:06:31 PM
Currently I have a 3gig harddrive.

How much space should I use for an Amiga OS install? I am going to upgrade to Amiga OS 3.9 soon, so how big should I make the boot (workbench?) partition? Thanks. :-D

Hi,

150 to 200 Mb should be big enough to hold the OS, all the patches, hacks and utilities and any other stuff you can think of. Even MS says it should be as small as possable and to avoid writing to it.

0.5 gig for AmigaOS is enough. In fact it is more than enough.

150mb is plenty, I concider my OS3.9 install to be very bloated and its 2 years old now...

13.Ram Disk:> dirsize sys:
sys:                             116.09 Megabytes  [Files:  5,878  Dirs:    464]

I gave my Workbench partition 700MB on my 18GB drive. My 2 secondary Amigas have 100MB Workbench partitions on 800MB drives.
