Hello
I plugged in my Amiga 1200 the other day, long time since I used it last.. And was quite disapointed when I noticed that my keyboard was only half working. Some of the keys, both on the numpad and letters work and some do not. Could this issue be solved by buying a new keyboard and replacing it? Or might this be even harder to solve?

Get a new keyboard and it should work :) But first open up the one you use now and clean it and it might work :)

Check that it is plugged into the motherboard properly. If it's not making good contact some of the keys won't work.

I opened it to start cleaning the keyboard and noticed that the cable was not properly connected.. So, connected it and now it works :) thanks!
Although now I have another problem..
When putting it all together it will not fit.. I have tried figuring out what might push agains the lid/top but just cant figure it out. Any clue? Is there a trick to putting it back together? :P

If you manually push it together do it resist? Also are you sure it was not like that before you opened it? Since it's quite common that the plastic gets a bit bent over the years.
Be sure to check that the keyboard is aligned with the gap at the center and gig it a bit and see if it works.

Yes, the plastic itself is straight, its when I push the lid down it gets bent like that.
I do not think it was like that before I opened it, but I did not notice anything so I am not sure..

Tiny tiny picture, but from what I can see it looks right, strange try pushing the keyboard upwards when the case is closed.

I tried, but no luck..
Not sure, but it looks like it might be the plastic four taps that holds the keyboard, may be they have been deformed all those years in the basement .. Ohwell, at least she works again :)

Mine doesn't close all the way either. THe spots where the screws go in simply wore out.
Do watch out for the little cables that go to the LED's, as they can get squished when you close the case.

Screws are still okay, although they are pretty worn.
Yes, I checked the cables when I closed it up, and it looked to be okay.

Look along the front and rear edges of the keyboard from the side...it should be perfectly straight. If it's not, bend it back gently.
Make sure also when in position, that it's correctly hooked under the 4 tabs (which are at the front of the bottom case).

I first thought the keyboard should be pressed under the tabs, but when I try pushing it in there is another may be 5 mm before I can close the lid (complete stop). Feels like I am going to break something if I press any harder.. but if it is as you say, then it would explain why the plastic bends like it does.
May be I can heat up the tabs a bit to soften the plastic .. feels like a bad idea tho

Definitely under the tabs mate. Here's a picture of how it should look:

To get it under the tabs, just slide it into position and attempt to slot it in, and when you feel that resistance like it won't slot in, simply press down on the front edge middle of the keyboard (right near that bottom screw hole in the picture) to get it under those two middle tabs (this is where it is sticking).
