Hi i have an Amiga 1200 and PCMCIA internet card. everything is installed and ready to go on the 1200. But i do not know how to get my internet/ip adresse to work on it. I have Miami browse on it
-
You will need a TCP/IP stack in order to get online and have you installed the drivers for the card?

Hi yes the man i purchased it from was online on it, and he said it was ready to go online.

I got easynet software and hardware from Amigakit.com...

Miami's not a browser, it's just a TCP/IP stack. For web browsing, you'll need other software (I've found iBrowse to be very nice, though I don't know if your hardware is sufficient to run it.) Have you gotten the connection up and running with Miami yet?

Hi no not quite yet. This site here was bookmarked, so i could get in to Amiga org. but then when i try to used the site, it keeps say could not connect to internet even when i tried to connect wireless. are there anywhere where i can use my password to connect to my internet? I also have iBrowse you talked about

What password? Do you mean your wireless is encrypted? It might be that Miami doesn't support your method of encryption.

I must admit it is harder than i thought to get internet working on Amiga. or mayby it is just me there is not very good at it :)
-
Hm, I can't help you too much with wireless...I've read that there are drivers you can get that support encryption, but I don't know anything about 'em.

Wireless is a bit of a pain in the ass to setup with a 1200, it can be done but you have to use basic security on your router.
A LAN setup is a lot easier of course, is that an option for you?
The easiest way to get online is to install EasyNet and just play with the settings until it all magically works, that's what I did anyway ;)
Also please remember that going online with a 1200 these days is kind of pointless, most sites won't render correctly and it will be very slow and painful. I've got an 80Mhz 060 and my LAN card is still sitting in the box I brought it in, that should give you an idea ;)

Hi no it is just wireless i can connect. I know it will be slow, but i just thought it could be fun if i could get it to work :)

Here you go, I found this thread (http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=43153&highlight=easynet) on my setup issues with wireless which might help you.

I disagree. I've got a 50MHz 030 and a 10Mbps PCMCIA NIC; on most sites I've visited, the NIC is the bottleneck, and where that's not true, it's usually only because of bloated Javascript and iBrowse's lack of a JS whitelist feature. It's not zippy by any means, but it's perfectly usable.

I am using wireless for my A1200, I guess you are using the prism drivers?
Then edit your startup-sequence and add following line:
C:SetPrism2Defaults SSID "YourSSID" KEY "YourKey"
It's case sensitive also if you don't have add CardReset ticks 50.
