Hi,

Just got done playing with a CF in my A1200, could make it work as long as it was by itself, but try to add a CD player and it was like no go city (sort of like trying to troll Karlos, it just doesn't work). Anyhow if anyone knows how to troll Karlos, errr I mean get a CF to work with a CD player, let me in on the secret.

I think you can find dual CF-flash to IDE adapters.

You could probably add two to the same cable, but the one I have has no master/slave jumper which would be an issue.

or you could add a buffered 4xIDE deal like this.

http://amigakit.leamancomputing.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=42&products_id=194

make sure to keep the cables as short as possible if you don't get a buffered 4xIDE.

I have a FastATA IV hooked to a DiskOnModule and a dual SATA adapter which allows me to connect almost anything :)

Why do you want to have two?  I'm using a single 16GB internal SSD HD module which is more than enough space for me.

you'll need an ide buffer they make a 4 way ide buffer (amigakit) , I have one in my 1200 but I need to get a cable made before I can tell you if 2 of them will work or not.

Hi it was because i am going to get 2 or 3 with many games on them. Thats why i asked if it could be done :) I also have a Cf now im my Amiga 600 and i have tried to used that in the PCMCIA port on my Amiga 1200, but then it will not boot up. Can it be because i have a hard disk in The Amiga 1200 at the same time?

I would recommend against inserting your cf hd card into another amiga pcmcia port especially if the cf is >2gb as i did this with my transcend 4gb card and it cooked the card :furious:

I think it damaged the start-up sequence file registry in a way that quarter back tools could not negate.

A backup on a second card is always nice.

I have a PCMCIA adapter with a 4 GB card and it works fine, but I don't think you can boot from that.

Now that I have a 1200 I was thinking of adding two CF cards.  One to hold the OS, games, programs etc.and the other to use as a way to transfer files between machines.

Possible??

Why not just use a PCMCIA/CF adapter and install Fat95? Super easy :)

Install 1 cf as a hard drive on ide, then use the other in the pcmcia port.. Install cfd.lha and fat95 etc. the pcmcia port can be hotswapped then.

Thank you all for the info/suggestions.. I honestly didn't mean to highjack the OP.. Just very interested in setting up with a CF option.

Hi,

If all you are going to use it for is to install games, then why not install the adapter in a disk drive bay and mount it on the front of your computer. This way you can have different CF's made up with different OS's and different games. All you would have to do is just turn off your Amiga, unplug the CF that your tired of and plug in a new CF. Face it the Amiga OS doesn't really take up that much rooms and it is a lot better to just by a bunch of CF's install the OS and then mount your games on that CF. It would be just like using a floppy drive but with a lot more space. Like 2GB or 4GB.etc.

I removed my CF from my Amiga 1200, might play around with it by mounting it on the front panel of my A4000 Desktop. The only thing is getting it to run with a CD drive mounted. Haven't had any luck with that yet.

Hi,

Yes, from what I can see from my Amiga 4000, I just added a Buddha to my A4000, on the Amiga ide port I have my CF drive set up for the boot drive, then on the Buddha along with I mounted my second 32 gig CF drive I had it set up as a program drive.

now notice,

Amiga ide port -- one CF drive 8 gig mounted as a boot drive and work drive.
Buddha port -- another CF drive mounted as a program drive.

now I have my buddha interface working with a CD drive and a 4 gig hard drive.

Once again an Amiga 4000.
