Title: Video Toaster Questions
Post by: DiskChris on September 01, 2012, 09:19:04 PM
I am not sure if this is the right place to post this, as the Video Toaster is both a hardware and software solution, but here goes...I just bought an Amiga 2000 with Video Toaster and I have no idea how to use it.  Its an amiga 2000 with a 68030, 540 mb scsi hard drive, 8 MB of fastram, Toaster Card, Time Base Corrector, and Toaster software.  I cant wait to play with it (after removing that awful nicd battery of course :) I have a couple of questions.

Will it take composite in/svideo or does it have to be a bnc connector?

What does the Time Base Card do?

Do I need a special VCR? Could I use a DVD recorder instead?

A guide would really help me out...

1. It will take Composite video, go to Radio shack and get few/many BNC-RCA converters.
2. TBC takes a composite video signal, mostly from VCRs, and syncs it together with other inputs. VT needs TBCs to work properly.
3. You can use DVD recorder.

The first input needs to be stable, like from TBC or Camcorder.
As far as connecting things, the Video Toaster manual shows you how to connect things together.

Unfortunately, it doesn't come with a manual...

@ OP

FYI Input 1 on toaster can take a digital signal WITHOUT TBC for instance DVR/Cable box digital comp out, Digitial mini dv cam, Xbox, DVD player  etc etc...
THEN on Input 2 you would route your second source like a vcr or something through the tbc first then into input2

This will give you an A/B situation where you can use the Switcher on the Toaster to switch between input 1 and input2 with transitions or whatever.

Any chance on finding the VT2000 manual?
