Title: Recommended Suppliers of Amiga Parts
Post by: bitcpy on August 27, 2012, 09:47:57 PM
Hi Guys,

Wondering if you can recommend some good North American sources for buying Amiga parts/kits. (ie. Accelerator cards, adapters, graphic cards, etc).

Thanks in advance!

64 views and no one has any recommendations on some good North American suppliers?

The only one I could find from doing the typical searches is SoftHut.

Is there any other company that you guys deal with for parts?

64 views isn't many especially if your thread falls off of the main page.

Try AmigaKit:

http://www.amigakit.com/

I don't know where they are exactly, but you can shop in US or Canadian dollars.

Also there's Vesalia - probably not in N. America but they are reliable.

Amigakit is in the UK and Vesalia is in Germany. I'm not sure if there's any active amiga dealers still in the US

I used to buy from SoftHut but they haven't had stock for a while.
Even though Amikit is in the UK shipment to Canada has always been very quick.

I found Vesalia and AmigaKit.

I think AmigaKit is going through some kind of move because their phone # comes up as disconnected when you call the USA # (1-360).

Softhut seems to be out of the business or just not interested because they dont reply to emails and their phone # is answered by a fax machine.

I was hoping there was a local North American dealer somewhere so parts can be obtained a little easier but I guess the remaining suppliers are all European based.

Thanks for the responses guys. I just wanted to see if there was anything I missed in my search.

Joe at Softhut is still around. It's not his main business anymore and it can be tough to reach him, but he's still got some supplies. I bought some chips just a few months ago.

I am not really sure.. I find it strange that they would leave the # disconnected and not have some kind of recording that gives you a new number to call.  Again this is just the USA # I tried calling.

I also sent an email last week with a list of items I want to purchase but haven't received a reply yet.

I am quickly learning that things don't move quite as fast in the Amiga world as they do in the PC world.. lol.. When you want a part in the PC world, you go to Amazon or Newegg or wherever and next day you have what you want..

I am learning to improve my patience and eagerness for mods when dealing with my Amiga stuff.. lol..

Softhut is completely dead.  I've asked 3 times for a reply to confirm they are in business over the past year, with no results.  You would get better results contacting Doomy at this point.

That would explain the unanswered emails. Thanks for the heads-up.

I was just replying to Matt when you typed this so I didnt see it in time..

I didnt want to say it because I am "new" to the scene and still trying to get a foothold here so I dont want to make any "waves" lets say. I don't know any of these suppliers very well so I didn't want to say something prematurely and possibly smear them. I haven't seen anyone else say anything negative about them.

Since you had the same problem, I will also say:

I've also sent 3 emails within the past week or two. My last one just asked if they were still in business and that one didnt get a reply either.
