Hi i have a Amiga 4000 with workbench 3.1. Do any of you know if i can put a background picture? like on windows
-
Dear Friend:
I used to have an amiga 4000.
And yes, you can put a background picture.
If you check your tools on workbench, there
is one tool that lets you select a picture to put
in the background.
I forgot the name of the tool, but it is there.
Hope someone else can help.

Yes it's WBPattern. You can also replace the original version with this:
FastWBpattern (http://aminet.net/package/util/boot/FastIPrefs4035)

Hi i have found it :-) but if i want to use a picture do i need to install the picture from diskette or cd? because there are no picture on it, i can find
-
Don't forget how large a full screen's picture is in comparison to the size of the diskette the OS came on! You'll need to provide your own picture. Also don't forget that the picture will be shown in as many pictures as your Workbench is, so if you're running without a graphics card, you'll have to choose your picture carefully.
One other thing, make sure it's in a format that is supported. I can't remember for sure but I think you need a datatype installed for JPEGs and things, whereas an IFF (ILBM) should display anyway. If you want to display a JPEG, check akJFIF datatypes on aminet (http://aminet.net/package/util/dtype/akJFIF-dt).

If no graphic card in the A4000, IFF-ILBM recommended. JPG's load slower and eat more memory.

Thanks for all your input guys :) i will see if i can get it to work

If you don't have a graphics card then it's also worth using something like fastblit, so the image can be loaded into fast ram instead.
