My CyberStorm MK 1 has a dead cpu fan. It had a good life.
What is the specification for the fan? I see different models with different RPMs and DBs, but I still haven't found the specs for the MDX one that died.
Does it matter using a 40x40x20mm instead of 40x40x10mm (which I think is the MDX dimensions)? Do all 40x40 fans blow the same way? Will I have to worry about the power connector?

I don't know the specs, and I suspect they don't matter as much as just getting any size fan to help dissipate heat. I use GPU, or "VGA" fans on my Phase 5 Cyberstorm CPU's

BTW, can the 060 survive with only the heatsink? They didn't pick the largest one around...

The 68060 runs much cooler than the 68040--it runs on 3.3 volts vs. the 68040's 5 volts. I added a CPU cooler to the 060 my Cyberstorm PPC to keep the ambient temperature lower around the 604 processor and help keep it cool. I didn't have any overheating issues with the 68060 but I did with the PPC proccesor and the 5v 5mm stock fan which I replaced with a 10mm 12v fan.
That being said, keeping the 060 CPU cool always helps and the 20mm fan will be much better than the 10mm one due to the amount of air it can move. If it fits, get it. Better to put in a fan with higher specs if you're replacing the stock fan which in the case of the PPC cards, at least, was way underpowered for the job it need to do.
Here is where I bought my CPU fans from: http://stores.ebay.com/a4cool?_trksid=p4340.l2563
They had a big enough selection of CPU coolers and fans with all the specs listed that I found exactly what I needed.

I have a blizzard 1260 with a rev1 060. It does not have a fan, although it does get warm to the touch.
When the fan in my 040/28mhz PP&S 040 went out I used a 486 fan which worked out well...

I used a 486 cooler for my 060 as well. The fit is good--the 060 is just a tiny bit bigger than the 486 but that made for a really tight fit with the heatsink firmly attached and the thermal paste between it and the CPU squeezed and well distributed. The 040 and 060 are the same size and any heatsink that fits on an 040 will fit on an 060.
