Title: Indivision MK II Aga, Please help...
Post by: Srdjan on August 17, 2012, 11:08:29 PM
Just received one from Vesalia, first i plugged it into my "working A1200", with blizz 1230 IV, 4 way Ide and 4gb cf card, the picture was full of pink horizontal lines, then i removed blizzard, the same thing , after that i removed 4 way ide , the same thing , then i switch to original power suply , the picture was the same.
With that naked setup i plugged Amiga into lcd tv via vga port, the picture was the same, and the last thing i switch tho whole motherboard... you guess  the same thing...
Has anyone experienced similar problems??

Are you sure you are seeing horizontal lines like scan-lines?

Have you tried pulling the Indivision off, then pushing it back on, making sure to press very firmly? It sounds like the connection is bad between the Indivision and the Lisa chip, I used to have similar problems with my original Indivision, I had to leave my case unscrewed so I could press back down on the Indivision every day. The Mk II has a much tighter connector though, so once it's pushed on firmly it shouldn't pop off as easily, but still make sure you pushed it as firmly as you can!

I hate to try to troubleshoot a problem when I don't know what it is.

Vertical lines from a MK2 occur, but then that's not the problem, is it?

Thank you for your replays, and yes i tried a fey times to remove it and to put it back, as i mentioned  i even tried to switch motherboards without success, the last I'm going to to today is to went to local shop and tried to find some other DVI-VGA adapter .

I attached screenshot of a boot screen, it is hard to capture lines with phone, but belive me the lines are very visible , especially when you boot in to workbench...

AFAIK its not the Indivision but rather the amiga, Jens mentioned something about it.
I see the same lines on my amiga, although not as much as you do. I think we just have to wait for the next core update.

Dude, those are "Vertical lines" (not horizontal) seen when there is no image to display OR with a poor video signal from a poor cable/cable connection. A good quality cable or a better connection should get rid of them, I've been told. The MK 2 puts out both an analogue signal (vga) and a digital (HDMI) signal. The D-DVI will give the best signal if your monitor accepts it; my Amy monitor has HDMI input and VGA input, so I use an A-DVI adapter, as my RTG board uses VGA and this allows a monitor switch. A poor switch will give you the same lines. When needed I can change to a D-DVI to HDMI adapter, but this means changing the input using the monitor's remote -- which I find annoying.  Back to thread, a poorly shielded cable will give the same lines. You can recheck this as this was talked about on the web even before they reached the market.

I am pretty sure it is not the Amiga (they only show up with the MK 2), and it has been discussed as a signal issue -- the digital DVI will send data not wavy signals and this should bypass most shielding problems. I have OK cables myself but see these faint Vertical lines when I'm waiting for a real signal. If it were not 05:30 here and I was not typing in bed on my iPhone I would check my D-DVI output to see if even my faint lines are gone; but I can do it later if you need confirmation

Yssing, saw your Avatar and my 2nd degree in TKD cost me the normal use of both knees and hips. So take care, the joints you save ARE your own

Ok, sorry folks I just rechecked my threads and I'm wrong as to the cause, Jens says it is a difference in the "pixel clock" of the MK2 and the Pixel Clock pixel of the monitor.  Crap I hate it when my memory doesn't match up with the facts!!!

In any event his forth coming config tool will correct the lines. Sorry about my earlier post, just laugh and say, "What a buffoon!"

Dan >> That picture was taken at a training camp in Germany, where there was a bunch of different Kyokushin guys, and most of them, who were in their 40s had had hip, knee and/or other surgery because of their kyokushin, and that was when I decided, that no more full-contact for me.

Wasn't the full-contact as much as over use (in unnatural ways) of the joints. In TKD, it was the hours of kicking drills

Common problem when using LCDs, and you might be able to tune out or minimize those lines if you stick with the VGA connection for now and adjust the monitor's clock/phase settings. I imagine the only adjustment possible when using the digital connection would have to be done from the Indivision.

the vertical lines on the MK II using the VGA cable are not due to a low quality switch or cable but due to the fact that the pixel clock needs to be set differently via the (unreleased) configuration tool. You may or may not see it to various degrees depending on the monitor.

I ended up getting this monitor (for my notebook) and i briefly tried it with the Indivision MKII and it seems to support every video mode I tried on the HDMI. The only annoying thing i found so far is that every time the amiga changes resolutions you get an annoying message on the monitor informing you that the resolution is not optimum and you have to press a button to get it to go away... Not found an obvious way to disable that.... thanks for the info samsung. Sometimes I wonder if people ever use the products they design, but after playing with Windows 8, i'm convinced they don't.

I really got that monitor for my notebook computer and I'm pretty happy using the amiga on the 19" Septre 4:3 monitor i have it connected to now. I use the VGA as the DVI does not work with that monitor. I also get the lines on that monitor, but the Indivision AGA is still the best and I love it...

Yours has scanlines?  At least yours displays something.  :(  I can't get mine to show any usable signal whether I use DVI, VGA, or HDMI.  Out of two TV's and one monitor, nothing can show any of the signals.  :(  I've also tried NTSC and PAL sets.  Oh well.  I know it's connected because it gets really hot when the Amiga is on for a while...the yellow video cable will always work into the TV, so I know that the chip is still generating an image...no idea what the problem is.  And I flashed it with the tool on Jens's site.  :(

This is a very common issue on mk1 and mk2 (believe it or not) check the link of eab, some user called gibs solve this issue but without post any solution about the fix.

If you read my reply at 04:44 I corrected my mistake, it says you can call me a "buffoon," but feel free to copy my original post ad nauseum until your heart is content; that's what forums are for
