Title: Off Topic (sorta) Linux question.
Post by: Methuselas on December 19, 2002, 08:11:39 PM
Hey all!

I'm trying to setup my machine to tri-boot Windoze2000, Redhat 8, and Amithlon. I'm having to do a triple partition on a single drive. The Windoze side werks fine (go figure), but the Linux side just isn't working. Both LILO and GRUB take a dump and won't load and when I tried Boot Magic, it won't even display my Linux  sides...I've been debating on just buying a second drive and dedicating it to Linux, but I can only afford about a 40GB and it just seems like a waste, 'cos for only a bit more, I can get an 80GB, bit I just don't have the 'bit more' right now.  :-(

Now, I'm pretty familiar with Linux (Debain mostly, with a bit of Mandrake thrown in there), but I'm not sure what I'm doing that's FUBARing my partitons. Partition Magic tells me EVERY time that there are LBA errors, even though I format the WIN side using 2000's CD and format the Linux sides using RH8's CD. I can boot to Linux just fine wiht a boot disk, but it still won't load LILO or GRUB correctly, so I can access the Amithlon side. :-?  I've been on this since Monday and it worked fine the FIRST time I did it, until  I went to format the amiga drive..... :-(

Any ideas or suggestions? :madashell

Okay, well I *FINALLY* got GRUB to work. IT boots Linux without problems, but it won't run my Amithlon kernels. Keeps saying that it can't find them??!??

Any ideas?
