Hi Guys, I'm in need of a little assistance :(
I've just moved house - which is good - and managed to unpack my Amigas for the first time in a few years. Unfortunately no phone line yet, so I have to connect up on my phone, also :(
Now, I've found that I have water damage on my desktop A1200, which I'm working on once I unpack my IPA.
My main problem is my Power Tower'd A1200 (Apollo 060/66 32Mb, Mediator, Voodoo 3 3000, SB...)
Cutting it short-
It powers up ok and I get the boot screen if I strip it all down to the bare mobo, but I don't even get a flicker from the monitor when the accel card is plugged in.
My thinking is either it's dead, which I'm ignoring for now, the battery is dead, which it almost certainly is, or the crystal has stopped vibrating!
So, can anyone point to common probs that this sounds like or suggest where I can get a new crystal and battery (soldered on variety). I had a quick look on Amigakit last night, but didn't see what I was looking for. Compounded by my lack of connectivity no doubt. I tried searching this site too, but again, not much fun on a phone, so sorry if this has been covered a gazillion times :)

Hi Brunty,
I've got the exact same problem with my A1200, not a blip out of it unless the accelerator board is removed, your set-up is pretty much same as mine.
I am talking to someone who said they will take a look at the accelerator for me and diagnose the problem and attempt to fix it.
I know it doesn't help you right now, but once the guy has got my card and checked it over I will let you know my problem and hopefully it can give you a direction to look in in terms of getting your card repaired.
If you are in the UK I am willing to speak to the guy on your behalf to see if he can look at your card too, if you want?
Regards,
AmiBoy

Nice to not be alone ;)
I'll await your outcome while I look into mine then. Hopefully one of us can come up with something as I've missed playing with my Amiga!
Out of curiosity, was yours in storage for a while or was it a sudden failure?

Hi Brunty,
It was sitting in my spare bedroom (aka my computer / escape from reality room) for a good while before I used it and found this problem.
Last time I used it I don't recall any problems, switched it off, then left it for ages (maybe even about 6-9 months) before switch on and issues :-(.
I really miss playing games on my Amiga, even though I have my PC, PS3, PSP, PS Vita, PS2, PS1 and smart phone to play on, they (most of the time) don't give me the same feeling of fun/excitement/joy compared to when playing a good Amiga game at the moment.
I just missing playing or having the option to play games on my Amiga when I get bored of my more modern machines & games.
I end up watching Amiga longplay vids on youtube, but that only makes me feel worse.
Crossing finger in hope my card can be repaired (or i'll end up paying a ton of money to get another 060 from ebay).

You're not wrong there!
I have just had a blast on Superfrog, so am feeling a bit better now :D Makes a refreshing change from my normal PC gaming of Dead Island, Battlefield type stuff. I feel that every platform does something very well, whereas back in the 80s and 90s the Amiga, I felt, was best at flight sims, now I realise that really the forte was platformers ;) PS and PS2 seemed to have the best driving sims, challenged today by the PC, and the PC is definitely the best for FPS...
Oh, and I think the Amigs is still best for graphics, DPaint, PPaint - so much more control than just playing around with buttons to improve a photo or remove red eye... But I digress!

Hey AmiBoy, have you got anywhere with yours?
I replaced the oscillator and battery on mine, but still not working at all.
Have you had your card looked at yet?
