Title: Sega Master system emulator
Post by: MelbourneBen on July 30, 2012, 03:32:25 AM
I recently found a really great Sega Master System emaulator on Aminet that works perfectly on my A1200 with ACA 1231/42.
I've never had much luck doing emulation on an Amiga but this works really well. I've only tried Alex kidd in a miracle world so far and that works flawlessly.

You can download it here:

Yup, this is the best one on the Amiga. I've been using it for ages.

Hells bells, I'll need to check that out.
It works fine on a normal AGA system?

AmiMasterGear works only on AGA systems. The games are playable even on Blizzard 1220/4MB. It's written in Asssember and utilizes the AGA for some emulation tricks.
On 68030/28 MHz the games are playable in 100% speed.

GameGear and MasterGear are good systems.  I'd love a good Genesis emulator.

Does anyone know of a good Genesis/Mega drive emulator?

CoolNESs has the worst compatibility of any NES emulator for the Amiga.

For AmigaOS 4 - GenesisPlus - http://hirudov.com/amiga/GenesisPlus.php and DGen - http://hirudov.com/amiga/DGen.php
A guy from Poland played DGEN on his Amiga 4000 running AmigaOS 4 with PPC board.

Eight years ago I played with AmiGenerator on my Amiga 4000 with 68040/25 Mhz and it was very slow, but I enjoyed some Sega Mega Drive games title screens showing on my Amiga.

How does it handle a game like Phantasy star? Possibly the best 8Bit RPG ever....

For Role Playing Fans, or Phantasy Star fans in general.

GET the Japanese rom and patch it to english here:

http://www.smspower.org/Translations/PhantasyStar-SMS-EN

This really makes the game shine! The dialog is longer, darker, and really makes the game fit better with the other 3 games in the series, as opposed to come across as the dumbed down, cheesey poof, American version.

Not sure if the Amiga OS(s) have a rom patcher, but if not you should be able to run one in DosBOX if not then using one of those dreaded main stream OS'. :)

Yep, nice to know I can finally play a version of Outrun on the Amiga that isn't hideously embarrassing.  ;-)

I actually use an original SMS pad and it plays great..
ACA 1230/28 here.  Tho I'm pretty sure it's not always 100% speed with a few of the games (based on the FPS counter), but pretty darn close...
I don't notice any problems when playing...

Great fun..

I'll have to try Phantasy Star...
I've been meaning to see if I can get into JRPGs.  Grew up on the Ultima's/Bard's Tales, so haven't given the JRPGs a fair shot yet..

Very impressive feels just like the real thing but How do you exit the game and return to the emulator?

Just press esc. Then in the emulator's gui you can press continue or savestate.
It is 99.9% real thing and you know why? It doesn't have any latency on controls like the pc.

PS: Don't forget the free scanlines ;-)

@{fg shine}Esc@{fg text}        = Exit to menu.

Silly question but is your esc key working?
Try it on CLI. :-/
It will type a character.

not 100% speed because the emulator needs minimum a 030/50mhz
