I'm working with an A500 with Bodega Bay expansion chassis and have installed a Commodore A2386SX.
It has half of the ZIP sockets filled with ZIP's labeled AAA1m304Z-60. I'm trying to configure the memory on the thing and can't find any reference as to whether these are 1M X 1 or 1M X 4?
Can someone help me out here? For once the search engines have failed me!
Thanks,
Curtis

I believe that board only takes one kind of ZIP, so half-filled would make it 4MB altogether.

My Googlefu didn't get many matched either except for a few Chinese Sites. The Chip Manufacturer is NMBS but I couldn't find a Spec Sheet only a few sites selling the parts.
The Sites were:
http://www.apache-electronics.com/stockall.php
http://www.afrenterprises.com/manufacturers/NMBS-PARTS-1329/page1.asp
My gut instinct based on other Zip RAM Parts I have seen is that it's a 1M x 4.

Almost certainly 1MBx4 rather than 256KB which is the alternative. I say this because they're 60ns, which would be most unusual on the smaller chips.

If it is in it's genuine state, half-filled is most likely 1 MB
Either way, you can set up the extended RAM in the BIOS regardless of the real amount of RAM. Obviously, if it crashes when using the RAM, then you have set up too much.
I have posted the manual of the A2386sx here http://www.toofiles.com/fr/oip/documents/pdf/bridgeboardmanual.html

the bridgeboard can take 8MB ram total, so if using 1Mx4 that would be 16 sockets filled(2- 1Mx4 zips per MB).
if half the sockets are filled you should have 4M etc.
Most amiga stuff uses either 1Mx4 or 256x4... some obscure expansions may use the 1Mx1 chips but none commodore made that i am aware of.
