I would say, that is bad news.
I have been thinking about getting a copy of Hollywood but can't afford one yet.

Update:

there is just a news on amiga-news.de (German):
http://www.amiga-news.de/de/news/AN-2012-07-00060-DE.html

No sales anymore (no dates) but still support and updates. No official reasons why.

Certainly bad news.
I was tempted to buy Hollywood + Hollywood Designer numerous times, but then I found it was priced too high, and that it was a big flaw that it didnt support Amigas without graphic cards.

I completely agree with you on the price. I've always wanted to get Hollywood + Designer and tinker around with it but I can't justify spending that kind of money for something I'd only occasionally use in my very limited amount of spare time.

Another big negative for me was that there was no demo version for the Amiga. I would definitely have played around with an Amiga demo version and, who knows, I might have got hooked enough to be willing to spend that kind of money. I have a few ideas for projects I would like to try creating that I'm fairly certain Hollywood would be capable of doing but, as I only have very basic and crude programming skills, I need to know if Hollywood Designer can simplify the job enough to my skill level.

the updates cost 49 EUR what is fair. The first buy is not cheap but it is (was) one of the few professional products on amiga. So I bought all updates of Hollywood beginning from 4.0 and Designer even though I not used it (just to support it). I will do sth. in future with Hollywood 5.0 now (between the other things I do).

Ah, so now the price is irrelevant, since 'free' is the only way to get it.

I submitted a news item about this as well - hasn't been posted yet. Hollywood is professional caliber, and when you compare it to PowerPoint and Keynote it can certainly compete - well worth the price, especially given the economy of scale on the Amiga.

I ordered updates to my copies and also bought the Windows version to future-proof myself as much as possible.

Remember what happened when IOSpirit closed their Amiga business? Don't miss out on the chance to get these programs!

@ Matt_H

+1, top quality software developed on Amiga should be supported by the community.

Tutto Free! here is the result.... all Amiga users we want software free but it is impossible.

Free is ok when you're a kid but as adults we quickly realize that time is money and I'm sure most amigans now do financially support their favourite OS in some form or other

I only wish I could officially classify my Amiga purchases as charitable contributions.

:laugh1: I hear ya ! I still shudder when I think how much I paid for a whopping 20MB XT HD in my A590 but the feeling I got when I first got it was priceless so well worth it :knuddel:

True.

Well - it is better than to design your slides with TeX, but in my experience you have to lower your expectations if you think designer will make presentations as slick and as fast as PPt & Keynote. Also there are people who dislike the idea of running an executable to watch a presentation.

True. I had a lod of fun with Hollywood & Designer. It is great software.
