Title: Transcend CF IDE card won't boot A1200
Post by: wilko777 on June 24, 2012, 03:21:20 AM
I set up the card in Winuae and partitioned formatted etc. and installed Workbench 3.1 on the card.

Fitted it to my Amiga and the card wouldn't boot. I booted with my Workbench disk and CF contents were seen. I installed Workbench again and the install went ok. It still won't boot from the CF card.

CF adapter is set to master and HDD drive light flashes once before going out on boot up.

I'm back using my Amiga after 18 years and I've forgotten most of what I knew but I've spent hours trawling the Internet finding info on how to set up my CF card. Thought I'd cracked it and I can't see what else I can do.

Is the card the culprit?

Did you set the CF card to be bootable when preparing it?

You'll need to open HDToolBox or HDInstTools and make your Workbench partition bootable, save changes to the drive and reboot. Remember to take the disk out before you reboot.

HDToolBox is on the Install3.1 disk.

Out of curiosity, which filesystem did you prepare the partitions with?

Also make sure you have set the max transfer values correctly, otherwise you won't get very far with whdload.
