Out of interest, do people who have amiga.org accounts actually log in while they're browsing around, or just when they want to post something?
-
depends, I often view the site without logging in, but once I'm logged in (having wanting to post something), I tend to stay logged in all day, and since I visit most mornings....
edit: Also, if I am expecting a PMail, I log in
-
im logged in all the time, unless im not, then im not :-)
nah seriously... I have it set to keep me logged in at all times, and 9 times out of 10 when I return to amiga.org im still logged in... only when for whatever reason (cookie goes cookoo) I get logged out I then tend to stay logged out until I wish to post something, then i log in and the circle goes round and around :-)
-
I only log in when i need to write something...
Same on Amiga.dk and Amigaworld.net :-)
-
I'm always logged in when I'm here :-)
Saves having to log in after reading a thread I want to reply to :-D
-
I mostly log in only when I want to post something ...
-
I always log in before browsing the site . :-)
-
only log in if i'm going to post or to check if stuff needs approving.
-
I usually just log in to post, like just now :)
-
Also, do you have web browsers that can log you in automatically?
-

Well, I have the "store cookie" thing set, but Opera doesn't save them just now. Not since the first upgrading stuff you guys did (which is probably just a coincidink), but I use the ctr-enter wand thingumy to log in. Takes no more than 5secs on a bad day and 2secs on a good day :-)
-
i use ibrowse 2.3 and i log in everytime i join here, most of the times its allready logged in so i wont have to log in :)
cheers
pps:even if i am logged in it doesnt mean i am gonna post something:)

Well, for some reason Firebird does sometimes, and other times doesn't...weird

Yeah, I think that's a problem with Mozilla/derivatives - between upgrading to Firebird and the last server move, FB flawlessly logged in properly every time. Then the server move happened, and FB stops working. I've tried nuking cookies and re-setting AO cookie option to get it to save again, but makes no difference.

I almost never login.
-
9 times out of ten, I always log in, but there are some times (usually when at work) that I don't bother to, especially if I'm just checking the message boards.
-
I only log in if I need to post, and I only post about 25% of the time, maybe less.
There is still the occasional news about OS 4 going to be released someday, but that same news story has been released a few dozen times over the course of several years.
it remans my favorite story though, keep going with what works!
-
I'm always logged in. I don't want to miss an opertunity to get the last word it!!!
-

hmm, i have Opera 7.21 and it saves the login info just fine.
If too much time has passed since the last time i logged in I just have to hit the Wand button, and Whamo! auto-log-in.

Hello.
I'm browsing without logging in. Just to check what's going on.
I'm a windows user, in the past I was looking for an alternative, Amiga looked good enough, so I joined this site. Too bad, in time, the posts I read seemed more like "windoze is crap, amiga is the best, you could do in '85 things that you'll not do even in the year 3000" (stupid stuff anyway), the same atitude that drove me away from Linux, so now I just check from time to time to see if OS4 is ready... Well, I'm not going to buy an Amiga very soon, with the current status...
Regards...

I only log in if I have something to say. I run mozilla and limit all cookies to current session, so as soon as I click out, I'm logged out, and if I browse by, I won't bother to log in until I see something to post.
-
I'm automatically logged in when I fire up Phoenix/Firebird/whatever it's name is nowadays.
-
I log in automatically. Even when I have some job to do, I keep the amiga.org browser minimised.
No specific reason though.... :-D
-
Only when I want to post something.
I use Mozilla1.5
-
My browser seem to lose my login about once a day and if I then have something to say or want to see if ppl have posted on topics I've posted on earlier I'll login. But else I just check over the latest forum posts and news and then move on to other Amiga sources.
-
Mozilla auto fills in my password and stuff, logged in while on IRc too though.
-
I use Mozilla1.5
1.6 is out btw :-)
-
I get on A.Org usually 2 or 3 times a day for a few
minutes to check the forums .
Most times I don't log-in.
If i find I want to respond or post to a thread,
then I log-in.
So 75% of the time I'm not loged-in.
-
only when I'm fixing to post...then I get annoyed that the login returns me to the home page and I have to find what I was going to post all over again. :-D By that time, I've forgotten what I was gonna say and just give up! :-D I should just make it a habit to just log in when I am browsing..
David :-)
-
No, i don't login when I just browse around on Amiga.org. But for posting (like now) it's required.
regards,
tokai

Normally I do not, unless posting, as I'm too lazy I guess...
I do not care for auto logins or cookies on websites I visit due to security concerns (not sure if my concerns are valid or not, but I recieve a lot of spam these days).
I use Opera, and find it very handy on your site.
Why do you ask? Would you guys prefer we did log in?

I don't know of any security issue with auto-login, not even an issue with IE and autologin, let alone a decent web browser :-)
There is only really a spam issue if your email address shows up on a publicly viewable web page. Which is why I unticked the 'let other users see my email address' box on AO. The amount of spam I received afterwards dropped drastically.
-
First site I log into when I am on the net each day.
-

No, I was just intrigued by the usual "who's online" statistic being twice as many guests logged on as members.
-
I always log in soon as i goto this website, regardless of wether i post or reply to one
-
I only log in when I want to post or reply, just like right now.
Since I have my browsercache an cookie storage set to RAM: I`m loged out with each reset.
-
I never log out, so a lot of the time I don't need to log in. Although I've been messing with my cookie settings recently so that might change. I always log in straight away anyway cause I hate it when you want reply, then have to login, which takes you to the front page and you have to find the thread again... :-) Also to check for PMs.
I use Mozilla Firebird 0.7. The best browser in the galaxy! :-)
-
Usually I the only ocassions when I'm not logged-on while here is when I've briefly followed a Story-Link from another site!
When here on purpose I Log-on first, often with a click in the OKAY Box provided by Mozilla 1.0.0 for auto . . . . pity that its slower than just typing my ID straight away!
-
I'm logged in only when I must write something. Normally when I'm just
surfing I use my IB 1.22 which can't login to A.org anyway...
-
i always log in, never store any of my details, why give hackers an easy ride?
