Hi have my 2 old iphones which i keep spare as i do not use them anymore.
One of them is an 8GB 2G first generation and the other is an 8GB 3G.
Both still work OK (2G has a very slightly damaged screen & no vibration and the 3G no longer connects to Wifi/Bluetooth) and both hold a good charge.
Every now and then (maybe once every 2 months) i plug them in and charge them and use them (to play around with not with sim card) just to keep them 'alive'.
Is this a good way to prolong the battery life of both phones ?
Is there anything else better i can do ?

Both of them are easy to replace the battery, I have done it myself using ifixit.com :)
-edit- lithium batteries don't really last more than 4 years or so, but keeping the battery charged at about 80% when not in use does keep them in peak condition. Don't let them run completely flat. I hope this helps.

Yeah they both still have decent battery life. I'll keep them charged more often though.
Thanks :D

At work, we advise customers to leave the batteries at 40% to 50% when not in use for longer periods of time.
