Title: Question about SD HxC Floppy Emulator and A3000
Post by: WeiXing3D on June 09, 2012, 05:50:18 AM
Has anyone installed a SD HxC Floppy Emulator internally in an Amiga 3000 desktop?

I am interested in buying one but I'm concerned about installation since there is that plastic faceplate that covers the front of the desktop CPU all across the front side.

Any comments and suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks

I haven't installed one in a 3000 but I have internally installed one on a 600. I can say the device is small, half the size of a floppy drive, but you would have to think about possibly mounting the buttons on the front. Its easy enough to do if your handy with a soldering iron.

I used some motherboard risers to set the high. I assume in the 3000 there will be a propper floppy bay though making life easier. I have seen external box versions though so that's always an option to have it an external device.

For the external option, what kind of connector you use to connect the unit to the computer? Do you have to run a ribbon cable out of the Amiga case?
