I've been told before, but I forget how.
Wish I could just right click and tell it to unprotect. :)

I cant recall off the top of my head, but doesnt WB3.1 have protection bits accessible via tools types/protection ?
Failing that you can use "Protect RWED" from shell

You cant change protection bits from Workbench. Instead, start a shell and type 'protect +rwed'.

You can do it in Directory Opus

Left-click the icon and select icon -> information from the menu.
