Title: Amiga Indie Hardware Developments
Post by: Gulliver on May 13, 2012, 12:01:28 AM
I have set up a webpage that I thought it would be interesting for us Amiga geeks. It is an attempt to list all currently comercially available Amiga hardware hacking developments that are not sold thru common Amiga retailers (Amigakit, Vesalia, etc).

Let me know if I have missed some neat device.

http://lilliput.amiga-projects.net/Indie.htm

Hope it provides some assistance to our small community.

I like this.
I still have an A500 that could use a 4 MB upgrade.

Great site!

I have tomhuls a500 zorro adapter, which works great with A2091 HD and 4Mb RAM on A500 (I wish I could have some kind of enclosure for that contraption), also I have his 4MB ram upgrade in my CDTV.

I would love to get my hands on the A1000 kickstart adapter.

Great indie projects.

Good job!

PS: maybe you can even extend this with a list of people offering repairs? Most of the time it's pretty hard to find knowledgable technicians in your country.

Could you add a history (i.e. list of changes) to the site, or post said changes here? It's hard to report about updates on your (brilliant) page on a news service, when we can't tell the readers what has changed.

Yes, it is in development, but the developers have a real prototype, a pricing estimate (which should be between 100-200 euro), and are looking for interested buyers to estimate demand and final pricing. The picture is a good rendered image of the board. Besides the developers are known to be trustworthy and have developed other projects succesfully. Anyway, the link to the corresponding thread is there for everyone to decide if it is worth their interest.

So I dont see what the error is. :)

Hi -

Nice work!

I believe that some of the pictures do not line up with the products they are supposed to represent.

I believe that AmigaGTI refers to this:

The text for Ian's PC floppy adapter have the image of PSX adaptor next to it.
Many of the pictures are shown several times, and generally doesn't match the text anymore.

It only happened after the changelog was added.

Please keep up the good work! It's much appreciated :-)

Nice one.

Isn't there anyone making the 512M WOM for the A1000 that has been on Aminet for ages? (Or is it commercially available?)

Hi Gulliver!

Thanks! That looks much better :-) I only found this last error. Kipper2K's A600 memory expansion has the image of the SD HxC floppy emulator:

Thank you again zack_mk1, but this just seems to be your browser playing funny tricks on you. Just refresh the page, and you will probably end with the fixed version.

It was indeed my browser (Chrome) that was acting a bit strange! No amount of refreshes was enough this time, so I had to clear the cache. Sorry for the false alarm. :)

I think you might interested in this: I just received feedback from someone who use the PC to Amiga high       speed parallel transfer (http://www.amibay.com/showthread.php?t=32405) kit with amiga 500+ and he told me that the transfer time for an adf image, reduced almost 50% against amiga 500!
From ~110sec when use amiga 500, to 75seconds when use amiga 500+!
Guess that ECS chipset along with kickstart 2.0 finally made somewhere a REAL difference from OCS kick 1.3:  I/O ports work faster... :)

We stock the Lithium Battery Kit (http://amigakit.leamancomputing.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=1093), so should it be in the list?

..."This pretends to be a list of all known Amiga hardware devices developed by independent hardware developers, which are not available through standart retail channels, so that potential buyers know where and what to look for."...

Everyone is happy that you sell your Amiga gear. But then we all know where to find you, or for example Vesalia. The idea of this website, was to support all of those Amiga hardware developments that are pretty difficult to spot, so that amiga enthusiast can enjoy those products too.

So please dont feel offended, it is that from an Amiga perspective you can be rightfully considered a standart retail channel (which excludes you from the goal conceived for that webpage).

I think you misunderstood my question.   Lithium Battery Kit is available from us and an Independent, so by your definition it shouldn't be on the list:

I think you should probably remove www.amigamaniac.com (http://www.amigamaniac.com) from the list.  Nathan has failed to send me a replacement RGB adapter for almost a year even though I have numerous emails saying it would be replaced and posted "real soon now".

I thought I'd order more stuff (I know silly me) and this has failed to materialise as well.  Don't know what exactly is happening as my first order with him went through really well.  Shame really as I was looking forward to getting more of his kit.

Very true.  The difference being that we work full time serving the Amiga Community.  So every sale really counts for us so we can pay the bills at the end of the month.

Gulliver, your site is purely fantastic.. First the BBags, now this! Thank You!

Just my 2 cents, but I wouldn't mind if this collected all hw by independent developers, no matter where this stuff is available (maybe even point out that this and that may also be available from Vesalia, Amigakit, ASB-Computer etc.)

Also, if it is not yet there, I think Ratte's automatic video switcher is one cool piece of hardware. Hopefully he still takes orders for that.
