Title: Indivision AGA MK II & FastATA in Desktop - SUCCESS
Post by: bbond007 on May 08, 2012, 03:02:15 AM
Ok I got it to work...

You need to put the FastATA on 4 ROM sockets 2x2 and you'll need to insulate the Indy to keep it from shorting against the FastATA.

For best result you'll need to remove the excess from the through-hole soldering on the FastATA. I used a dremel tool with a little grinding wheel which was a mistake because I ruined a trace and had to fix it with my crappy soldering skills.

I could not get the RF shielding to fit back on :)

HD720 looks great!

EDIT:

oops. that should read FastATA MK IV in the topic, sorry :)

DVI worked on one monitor I tried and the results looked excellent. VGA has some banding, but its still very nice....

Frontier whdload version gets no video, but I can see svideo with the AmigaManaic adapter...

Very happy with this purchase :)

Good work.  :)

Thankfully my Fast ATA & Indivision AGA is in my A4000 where everything fits, but I'll remember this if I add an Indivision to my A1200 tower which also has a Fast ATA.

Everything fits :)

I actually think I would put the FastATA on 2 extra ROM sockets even if i did not have the Indivision. The thing seems to fit more securly... with 2X2 like I have the case does close, but the KB is pressing down on the FastATA, just a little, which may be good...

Also I have found that if you use 2 smaller wire ties in parallel (To Secure the FastATA) you can really get them a lot tighter than one single larger tie.

That being said, I'd like to get rid of the fast ATA and get the IDEFix Express when that comes out.

cheers!

I spent the extra $4 for fast shipping :)

Make sure you get HighGFX driver from aminet.... i'm using the included HD720 driver wich rocks. I was under the impression that Indivision AGA MK2 would only support PAL and NTSC monitor types at first. I don't know where I got that from...

Good luck!

I did an image search with google "colorful" but limited results to 1280x720 with the and saved some of the more interesting ones on my PC.

I have SAMBA on my 1200 so I just opened the pictured in Art Department Pro and saved them as HAM8 IFF.

The iPhone pics and how they get downsized don't do the display justice...

I did that too, but amigakit posted a link on how to upgrade your order...

http://www.amigakit.us/?webpage=dispatch

that may not be for you tough in AU :)

this part might work "When you create an order with us, you can upgrade to FedEx shipping by first logging into your account, go to your Order History section and click the VIEW button next to the order you want to upgrade."

Where do you get those sockets?! I have that exact problem at the moment. I was thinking that a riser would do the job but obviously haven't ordered a set yet.

The Indivision Mk2 has the best output I've seen to date (DVI) of any non-graphics board display. Stunningly sharp. I also see none of the sync issues I have with the Mk1.

My problem, however, is that my ACA1231 suddenly stopped working when I hooked up the Mk2. So I get a good display or RAM and a fast CPU/MMU, but not both. That and until I get risers myself I lost my Fast ATA Mk4

Just think how nice ScummVM AGA will be with the new Indivision AGA MK2. If it only supported a real RolandMT32 on serial MIDI :)

Oh, the broblem with running both is probably that your PS is weak... Are you using the stock plastic box thing?

Thats a very cool workbench you have there. Do you mind breaking down all the extras installed? For instance the window borders, the palette, etc? Oh and how will ScummAga improve with mk2?

I just ordered my MK2 with some other fun stuff from Amigakit. Funny thing is the $4 fedex charge was automated for me and I had no option. (which is cool because i wanted tracked and insured anyway) I have to say their web checkout is very well designed and a pleasure to use, which is rare on a lot of echeckouts.

Nova, real MIDI support would be so sweet. Have you heard of ProjectXG from Amiga Format magazine? It was a yamaha midi board project to give Amigas an external midi "soundcard"  The project is online and the parts could be cheap. It would be cool to have a ScummAGA version with external MIDI. People would buy the external box I would think.

Also, how will ScummAGA benifit from MK2?

It's basically classicWB (which brings some stuff like magicmenu) with Rebel's Pallette, VisualPrefs and Birdie 2000 with Cammy's silver-blue skin.

It seems the Graffiti modes will come much later I'm afraid, I would assume Jens will focus on the standard (and enhanced) WB modes first.

But there is a chance that when we do get them they may be more advanced than the original Graffiti modes, the rumor is that a 16bit chunky mode may be possible.....now that would be very cool for AGA :)

yeah, i tried this
http://aminet.net/package/driver/video/Graffiti_lib

did not work yet. I figured I'd give it a shot. All I was initially expecting were NTSC and PAL video drivers. This is already way more than I expected.

All these new modes are really nice but now we'll need some sort of chip ram expander...

The HDMI is really cool!

I can't imagine with I would do with PAL RF signal :)

I was just into my A1200 and I was almost going to remove the RF modulator in preparation, but I decided to give the RF modulator a stay of execution until i actually get my kipper2k HDMI port.

I almost wish he would have went with mini port or whatever apple uses... that way you could fall back to VGA. I thought HDMI was the one that wanted $$$ to use their interface.

Anyway, I went in to ground the Indivision. I had left the instructions to the Indivision at work by mistake, so ended up grounding the DVI part. Anyway, now they are both grounded...

Lol a A1200 on a 30" Dell display a bit overkill :)    (I have the same monitor on my pcceee)
