One of these sold recently for a lot of dosh, a prototype IIRC, but I don't think it was $84k. The FileWare "twiggy" drives are pretty rare in the 128k Macs because Apple offered a free upgrade to the 3.5" 400k drives due to the FileWare drives being highly unreliable.
This system was recently featured in a bunch of geek rags. In fact, ISTR these exact pictures being used. The seller is "wozniak," but I doubt that he's "The Woz."
Correction: The FileWare drives were only used in the Mac prototypes, period. The free upgrades were offered for the Lisa.

Common sense tells me I should sell mine too, then. Mine's the 200MHz, his is the 180MHz, so it should be worth even more!!!11
However, I never was terribly good with common sense.... sorry, wallet.

Unreleased & unreliable hardware with no chance of software does limit it's demand a little (though it shouldn't be that hard to copy a 3.5" boot disk to a twiggy disk).
I'd want to know how many were actually made and still might be sitting in a warehouse before dropping that kind of cash. If one has appeared after all this time then it's just as likely that there are 50 that are being drip fed onto the market.

Well, the X1000 doesn't look so pricey after all.
Ridiculous cash for a 604 but it seems to be all the rage, time I dug up all that crap in my cupboards and garage. I've got some strange stuff lurking around.
Hmm... this is an interesting auction. Isn't it a shame that the company that made the first colour portable didn't make an Amiga portable too.

I wonder how many times over the years the girlfriend/wife of the seller of that Mac prototype told him to "Get rid of that piece of junk. It's cluttering up the house!". Now he could buy a small house with the profit!
