Title: A1000 keyboards
Post by: Darrin on April 17, 2012, 06:47:49 PM
If I bought an A1000 without a keyboard what options do I have other than trying to track down an A1000 keyboard?

Are there any keyboard adapters out there to use PC keyboards with the original Amiga (Lyra doesn't seem to work) or does the A1000 keyboard socket support PC keyboards?

Cheers.

Any Amiga keyboard (A2/3/4000/CDTV) should work, you just need to swap the connector to the right type (RJ11?) or make an adapter.

Ah thanks for that.  So it just needs a pin/socket adapter.  Cheers.

I was hoping there was a way to connect a cheap PC keyboard.  While my A2000 and A3000 have Amiga keyboards, I'm used to using PC keyboards with my A4000 and various "Minimigs".

Does the Lyra actually support the 1000? You may need to use the socket adapter ajk mentioned with it.

Hi, that screen pic is the headbangers demo that was brilliant and no way could you bang your head as fast to the beat of the music as he did.

We  tried it all those years ago when the demo was released & after a few beers, my neck hurt for the rest of the week.

Hah, you just should go to chiropractic to make your neck more flexible, man!

Any chance you have two of them? :-) I have been looking for an A1000 KB for months!!

I thought the A2K/A3K/A4K KB were not compatible with A1K due to a special controller located in the KB?

Thanks for the offer.  I was originally asking because there was an eBay add where I guy was selling a nunch of old Amigas and he had 3 A1000s all with no keyboards.  I missed out on the winning bid.  :(
