Hi, Im setting my old a500 up again after a few years being tucked safely away in a wardrobe.Im wondering if this http://www.ebay.com/itm/6-FT-Dual-2-RCA-2-RCA-Patch-Stereo-Cable-Audio-Sound-Male-Wire-TV-VCR-CD-6FT-/180853606147?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2a1bb70703
Audio cable will work on my amiga 500.I noticed that the metal connectors were a little different on the original a500 audio cables. Unfortunately my a520 vid adaptor is broken.I am connecting to an old monitor.I think the cable pictured should work but can anyone confirm that this cable works?Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks.

For audio, those are fine as long as your monitor has RCA in, hopefully stereo or you'll need a 2 to 1 adapter.
For video, if you use the RCA jack on the A500 you won't get any color, mono only.

Thanks for your help.Yes my monitor has rca in ports. Its an old beige philips cm8833-2.Using my miggy to mess around with amiga basic and ive bought deluxe music construction set for music.I was mostly a gamer on my 500 originally. Now im going to check out it's productive side.

As tone007 stated, this will work for audio but not very well for video. You will only get B&W from the A500's RCA video out.
What happened to your cable to hook up the cm8833 to your A500? If it's gone they are not impossible to find - and would give you MUCH better video.
-
What exactly is wrong with your A520? Did you pop that internal chip? I can't remember what the chip number was, but if it's blown, and you remind me what it is, I can more than likely repair it for you.

My old cable was frayed and i lost it few years ago.I have a cable for the rgb video port to my monitor. Im gonna mess around with amiga basic and some sound programs and stuff.

The sound is not working in my a520.The picture or video portion is ok, or it was when i tried it many years ago.I have it somewhere around the house.Im in ireland so im a long distance away but thanks for the offer.

IIRC the PAL A520 has a switch for audio carrier frequency, make sure that is set the correct way.

You don't need the 520 then. Just use the "RGB" cable for video and the RCA for sound and you have it!

Yes, and with the RGB cable directly to your monitor the picture quality will be 20 times better than that of the RF, and 10 times better than the composite video. :elvis:

Yeah, they run off the same chip, so if that wasn't it, it's just a simple RCA jack replacement, probably. My Mum's from Enniskillen. All the more reason to help out my fellow Mick, but okay. ;)
Everyone's right, though. If you have an RGB cable, use that instead. You'll get a *MUCH* better picture and the A520's were always a bit twitchy.

Yeah i have the rgb cable so im good. The a520 was a bit unwieldy and cumbersome device in that it protruded out the back of the miggy.Maybe ill look at it sometime and see if it can be fixed.I mostly played games on the 500 back in the day and never used much productive software so i thought id give it a go.Fermanagh must be nice though ive never been up north before i must admit.Your a long way from home but then again ther's no shortage of Irish people in america either.

Nah. First Gen on my Mum's side. Her side of my family emigrated from Ireland to Vancouver (they don't like my teasing they were terrorists. XD) My Dad's from an Indian Res on Oklahoma. I was born in Alaska. ;)
Been to Ireland, once, back when my Nanna passed back in 2008. I promised to scatter her ashes in Enniskillen. Best week of my life. Met more "cousins" than I could count, when I mentioned my last name was Kennedy. ;) I should have been in mourning, but instead, spent it happily drunk, not thinking of what I was there to do. When I left, I was quite happy have done what I promised.

Part Indian and part Irish is an interesting mix.Farely rare id wager. The indian peoples have often been portrayed on telly and movies in such a cliched fashion it must be a tad amusing to watch at times.Come to think of it so have the Irish. The 1990's was particularily bad for this in terms of hollywood.
Glad you enjoyed your visit. Now if only we could jettisson all of the Irish politicians into a black hole somewher, never to be seen again all would be right in the universe.:biglaugh:

Yeah, the older Native Americans are a lot more tolerant, compared to the younger ones. The younger ones are more militant, angry and bitter. Many a time, I was called "half-breed."

Make sure that black hole has room for the American ones too! ;)
