Well done, what's the secret?   A few people have had trouble getting this working.

Managed to test any RTG software yet?   Would love to know if BOOM can now run on ECS.....

Cool, I give it a 50-50 chance of working and and even lower chance of it being playable.

I don't think he's patching all of the OS functions that he needs to yet, without these it may not run very well.

If it does work, it will be interesting to see how the speed compares to ADOOM ECS direct chunky mode :)

wow!  being able to do 256 color on an ECS machine is astounding!

I might have to try that on my indivision ECS.

I assume u changed the tooltype and gave it a WAD file?

The console window stays open even after the main game window is open, if you switch back to it (eg switch screens using the WB short cut) you *may* see an error message before it closes.

Hmm this driver is very exciting. What i'd like to do is use an indivision ecs with p96 driver to drive  Movieshop software for VlabMotion so I can get a nice 1024x768 screen 8bit depth with color thumnails.  Would this be doable?

Two questions ...

A long shot i know - but just wondering if anyone has tried this with the indi AGA ?

Does Jens know about this driver and would he plan on incorporating it into the official ones?

STATUS: BETA / ALPHA you should know what you are doing! Requirements: installed Amiga (ECS), a minimum of 4MB Fast RAM with MMU and a Indivision ECS (Core 1.1) 1.1

Installation: - Install MMULib Picasso96 + (libs Version: picasso96.library min version 2.3!) - Replace incompatible with the MMU program MMULib equivalents . - Copy all files of the install archive to the equivalent directories

FAQ:
Q: I can not boot anymore. I can only start via the boot menu and choosing "no startup-sequence" A: Press both mouse buttons, the Picasso system is not activating in such a situation!
Q: How to uninstall? A: The Indivision driver can be deleted in the devs: monitors directory. After that only the Picasso96 system and the libraries mmu stay inside. Picasso96 is activated on starting a driver in the devs: monitors directory (for example uaegfx, domino ..). Delete all "NEW" drivers installed by Picasso96. And please do not touch your PAL, NTSC drivers.
Q: I do not have a indivisionECS installed, but something happens. A: There is not HARDWARE detection inside. Your should know what you are doing.
Q: Did you support the AGA MK # 2? A: Nobody knows right now, if it is possible. We must wait for it.
Q: Is it possible to play games on a AGA ECS / OCS Amiga? A: No its not possible. Maybe you can "play" a RTG game. But it is maybe a little bit slow!
Q: Why should I backup my system? A: Do not blame me if something goes wrong. I can only test on one amiga with one config! And there is everything ok.
Q: ACATune my accelerator did not find any more?
A: That's because of the MMU Library.

Hope that helps (taken from a1k.org)

It doesn't work as Indivision AGA works in a completely different way to indivision ECS.

I have all the above correctly installed. Still no go...

It does show up in the ScreenMode prefs as:
indi:320x240 - 58Hz, 38,28Khz
indi:640:480 - 87Hz, 38,28Khz
indi:800x600 - 87Hz, 38,28Khz
indi:1024x768 - 91Hz, 38,40Khz
IndivisionECS:800x600 - 0Hz, 0,00Khz

When I use the indi modes, the screen goes black and stays black. So I have to reboot the machine. When I use IndivisionECS:800x600 mode, the screen goes a few seconds black and then comes back, but it is just the "normal" PAL mode.

It also shows up in the P-96-prefs program, but the INDI screenmodes are not modifiable.

I'm having the exact same problem as Amidude when I tried loading it onto my 2000 except if I hit test in P96Prefs, it works for the test screen.

looks like to me your your monitor can't sync that high.  I am not near my miggy right now (will look later) but its around 58ish/32ish for 800x600. try copying 2.0, the copy 2.e then copy 2.s over in that order. don't touch the p96 prefs at all. that happened to me and thats what i did and fixed it. hope that helps.

edit: also in monitors for the mouse in the info - softwaresprites=Yes if you have no mouse after the screen switching.
also i added this in my startup-sequence  - libs: picasso96/indi.card

ARGH! Why won't this work for me!  Whenever I try going into 800x600 my monitor wigs out and says the vertical refresh is 6553.5hz - 640x480 doesn't give an out of sync error but the screen goes black and the "test" option works for both.

I dunno but with all the bounties out there in the amiga community. You would think there would be  a bounty for this driver so that this dev could get help from another dev. RTG with INdivision for ecs machines would be a big boon to classics

looking at 1024x768 and it shows 91hz 38.40hz  which won't work on my flat screen. any work around this? 58hz x 38.28 works and thats 800x600.  be nice to have a bigger 256 color workbench! ..

@chrfriend .. did you update the core and install everything? i did it in the order listed.
 - Install MMULib + Picasso96 (Version libs:picasso96.library min Version 2.3!)
- Replace incompatible MMU programms with the MMULib equivalents.
- Copy all files of the install archive to the equivalent directorys

Just get the latest 0.2w indi.card version from the thread over a1k.org.
Also u need to put one empty file (named INDI_SWITCH_VAR1) in Devs: folder and init the card by putting:
Code: [Select]
Libs:Picasso96/indi.card...as first command in Startup-Sequence.
Title: Re: Indivision ecs Picasso96 screen shot!
Post by: AmiDude on April 13, 2012, 01:55:50 PM
Yes!! 256-color WB!! Indi.card 02.w did the trick!
But without the "LIBS:Picasso96/indi.card" line in the beginning of the startup-sequence.
The system complained about that it "couldn't find the program", even though
I put the right line in the startup-sequence. So I had to remove that.
I only have the Indi monitor driver started before IPrefs, and then it boots straight
into a 256 color Workbench!  :biglaugh:

I can hereby also confirm that it works with an 030/42Mhz/8MB  MTec accelerator!

Cool. Can you tell us how usable it is? I'd love to see it in action with Imagefx or photogenics or something..
Title: Re: Indivision ecs Picasso96 screen shot!
Post by: chfriend on April 14, 2012, 03:16:23 AM
I got it working with 02.w - I think I may have had the indi.card in the wrong place as the one in Libs:Picasso96 was smaller than the one I found in Libs.  Once I copied that over to Libs:Picasso96 it started working.

Speed with 800x600x256 appears to be faster than the 1280x720x4 mode.  I cannot get 1024x768 working due to the monitor, which is unfortunate since that's my LCD's native resolution.

So we have a confirmed working on an A2000, 1MB Chip, 8MB Fast RAM on GVP 68030/33 combo accelerator.

Other than just getting the screenmodes working, how is it for practicle usage? Is it as good as a low end gfx card like the spectrum?  How is window redraw? How long to render images with gfx apps? that kind of stuff.

This may spur me onto replacing my retina with an indivision for Movieshop usage with VlabMotion in an a2000

I made an article on my blog with testing Symplex's driver both in a stock 3.1 installation (with BetterWB from Gulliver) and in my current beefed ClassicWB Full installation.

http://mfilos.blogspot.com/2012/04/a600-picasso96-via-indivision-ecs.html

You can clearly see the differences in speed as Stock3.1 is really responsive and fast on 256 colors. ClassicWB with heavy patching and Scalos is a bit slower, as I believe 3.9 would be even more.
Also you can see the difference in speed comparing it to my current ClassicWB installation using Ratte's SuperPlus 800x600 driver @ 8 colors (MWB) which is really fast and nice.

Anywayz... Symplex's driver is still on progress, so I expect that further optimizations might occur. It's really neat by all means. :)
I'm gonna try other RTG tests like Novacoder's Boom and perhaps (for fun) AfAOS lol!

I've tested it with AdPro and after loading an 800x600 JPeg photo, it rendered
pretty fast in 800x600 8Bit (256 col). So, no more dull 16color pics, but real
nice 256 color in high resolution!

My specs:
A600, MTec030/42Mhz/8MB Fast/2MB Chip/OS-WB 3.1/2GB CF-HD/1,76MB HD diskdrive/A604/IndiVisionECS
