Title: How about a Napalm bounty?
Post by: Yasu on March 25, 2012, 10:30:05 PM
I have never played the game. Why? Can't find it, can't buy it! And ClickBOOM doesn't seem eager to sell it for downloads or anything.

So I was thinking; how about a bounty to buy the code of ClickBOOM and release it as open source? That would enable it do develop into maybe something as cool as "NAPALM 2". And it would be an Amiga original :D

I guess it would be expensive, but I also bet that a lot of people would chip in anyway :)

I think someone else should do it then. I don't know the first thing about ... anything! :p Right now I wanna see if I'm the only one thinking this is a good idea or not.

I think most people would rather the bounty paid in cash rather than napalm, but to each their own.

The Magellan II bounty is my top priority at the moment, but I like this idea.

I think it would be especially fun if it wasn't a port of a game that already exist on other platforms, but an Amiga original. Which Napalm is. Maybe I should contact ClickBOOM and ask them if they are interested in:

A. Making the game available for download
or
B. Be interested in selling the source. And for how much.

Reading that http://www.amiga-news.de/de/news/AN-1999-02-00022-DE.html
its better you get a copy of someone who has the game I guess. It seems they ripped of quite a lot of programmers!?

It would be great to have the sources to some of these old games so we could get them running as they should on MorphOS and OS 4. Hell maybe even AROS.
